Hi, I’m new to the group and hoping for some advice. I have a single guinea pig who’s about 5 years old (got her at 3 weeks). When I first got her, we had another piggy, but they had to stay in separate rooms with supervised playtime because they would fight no matter what we tried. Over the years, we introduced a few other guinea pigs too, but she never really got along with them.

For a while, she still had occasional playmates, but our last pig passed about 2 years ago, so she’s been by herself since. She free-roams in my room and has plenty of hides and toys. Anyway, I’ve been working a lot more lately, and I just want to know what I can do to make sure she stays happy. I’m scared to get another piggy since she’s older and has never gotten along with other guinea pigs. I leave music on for her, and she hasn’t shown any abnormal behavior, but I don’t want her to start becoming unhappy. Any advice would help please and thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forum
We adore guinea pigs 🥰
The best thing is for your piggy to have a friend - human interaction isn’t enough sadly.
As your girl is older she might accept another piggy ( her hormones will be more stable etc) or a baby ?
Or even a piggy in a cage next door to her so there is interaction thru the bars ?
Maybe a rescue could help with finding her a friend and the bonding process
It’s difficult and of course you might not want to continue having guinea pigs when your piggy dies.
I’m sure other members will be along to offer advice and support ❤️
