I give mine about 1 tablespoon of nuggets per day, shared between 2 piggies.
The like ScienceSelective Grain free.
By limiting the pellets as I do a bag lasts a very long time.
The boys try a new urinary biscuit tomorrow as Stripe's getting tired of the scienceselective. It's oxbow.
Hope they like it.
They have been on urinary biscuits and limited pellets for a year. Chez doesn't even like pellets. They get calcium in their forage and basil three times a week.
If you are going to get ScienceSelective (the only one my piggies will eat) you need the Recovery Plus as it has added Vitamin C in it which aids recovery.
I’ve recently gotten 3 10 week old sows, and I’m confused on the quantity of pellets to feed them, with my two older boars they get a 1/4 cup scoop of scienceselective pellets, but I’m not sure how much to feed my sows. I have this same question about veg
...feed dry forage instead of nuggets or can you do both? Their currently on the Piggie parcels nuggets. I have weaned them off the scienceselective nuggets because of the alfalfa base, not sure it will make much difference. I’m just not sure if I can feed dry forage as well as nuggets. I think...
What is the best type of pellets to get for almost 1 year old guinea pigs? They have had selective natural grain free, and scienceselective garden variety. But what is the best for them.
Mine didn’t like the PP nuggets, even though I mixed them with their usual ScienceSelective grain free nuggets and gradually swapped them out.
In the end we went back to just the SS ones which I scatter around for them to find.
Mine get 1 tablespoon between the 2 of them.
Although they didn’t...
Yayy for the little weight gain - amazing news!
Mine have never liked CC, I've always used either ScienceSelective Recovery Plus or the Burgess Dual Care. The Scienceselective one seems to be better for weight gain but alfalfa is one of the ingredients so I do try to limit it especially as...
I’ve tried them and my piggies have 1 spoon of them and 1 spoon of scienceselective ( grain free) - they prefer the ss ones bu5 eat the piggy parcel ones.
That sounds a good idea then after a week or two do half and half and you’ll know then if your piggies like them
I’ve had a look through the existing threads and can’t find what i’m looking for
We’re syringe feeding ScienceSelective Recovery Plus at the moment following the recommendation from our vet
He does seem to be eating more on his own now but he’s currently on antibiotics so want to continue in...
...would be good but will see. Her pee is so so cloudy and the vet did say last time there was a lot of sediment in there. I’m gonna go to filtered water and maybe try different nuggets? Currently using scienceselective, which I believe are alfalfa-based based. Sorry, can’t think how to spell it!
Actually.... Yes. They act like I give them gold, I have to know what the fuzz is about! I usually give my boys Scienceselective grain free and have done for a couple of years. They taste quite boring. I wanted to change to Oxbows but Kongo and Harry said never. I do understand. Yesterday when...
...suitable veggies, a limited amount of pellets and filtered water should help.
I have a Brita filter which I use to filter the water.
Mine get about half a tablespoon of ScienceSelective grain free pellets most days
I try to steer clear of the high calcium veg like spinach.
Hope Ginny will...
We have been feeding our bladder stone prone piggie (and her 2 cage mates) the above instead of pellets, but I have just discovered that it has been discontinued.
Has anyone got any suggestions of other low calcium/oxalate, grain free feed?
Thank you (and Pigture of the silly pig)
...urinary thread on here to help me) and I’ve now got her on filtered water too as I’m in a hard water area. Her vet recommended the scienceselective urinary supplements which I’ve got for her but she ate one once and now won’t touch them!
I’ve crushed it up and mixed it with banana and fed...
