What is the best type of pellets to get for almost 1 year old guinea pigs? They have had selective natural grain free, and science selective garden variety. But what is the best for them.

Pick a pellet which is low in calcium, ideally grain free and doesn’t contain alfalfa - so the grain free version is a good choice because the normal version is alfalfa based.

However, the reality is whichever pellet you feed, that you ensure you only feed the recommended amount of one tablespoon per pig per day.

Pellets are actually the one element of the diet which isn’t needed - some of us don’t give any pellets at all

Thank you. I have reviewed the chart, but It still was not clear to me which kind was the best. Is there not a top recommendation? We have 3 girls, and we only feed 2 Tbsp total of pellets a day (plus unlimited hay and their daily veggies).

I give mine Science Selective grain free nuggets which they love.
As I only give them about a tablespoon to share they’re not overeating pellets

No there is not a top recommendation - everybody’s budget is different, availability of product, piggy likes etc.
We can only give a general guide of avoid grains and avoid alfalfa but after that the brand you choose is up to you.

The fact you feed the ss grain free then that would be a good one to stick with being it is grain and alfalfa free
