i just bought a 10kg bag of Pets @ Home nuggets for my guinea pigs and I am changing them from burgess as I have found out they contain alfalfa and I am wondering how fast my guinea pigs will go through 10kg of pellets my friends go through one in about a month but I use 1/8th a cup for each of my pigs a day so any advice is appreciated :)

how many piggies do you have?

i would think the bag would last a very long time - when my two had an 1/8 cup each a day i had left over from a 2.25kg oxbow bag after three months! nowadays they have literally a couple of vitakraft pellets each per day so hardly anything. depending on the piggies, 1/8 cup is really the maximum you should feed but less is better. your friend goes through a huge amount! unless she has alot of piggies :))

ideally though, it's advised to change the bags after around three months as this is about when the vitamin c, vitamins and minerals contents start to decrease, no matter how they are stored. according to alot of vets anyway :)
