Two pregnant sows came in to Rescue a few weeks ago - they were in with a male (a satin) when they arrived and were pregnant by him.

The first aborted her 4 under-developed babies 3 weeks ago.

Tonight I have found 4 dead babies born to the other sow. She continued on to have more and I had to help her remove them and I dealt with the sacks as she was not birthing in the normal way.

She had 4 more - so 8 in total - all stillborn.

Rest in Peace little ones - this is IRRESPONSIBLE breeding and it breaks my heart. 12 babies dead from two rescue sows - just awful.......

On a brighter note - the girls are reserved to a fabulous home to a forum member on here and once I am satisfied the sow is recovered - they can go.

Oh goodness, how awful! At least some good has come from this though... so glad the others have found a good home :)
 
i had something similar a few weeks ago with one of my rescue sows, its heartbreaking :(

Sorry to hear this, how traumatic, poor babies...
but nice to know they've got some lovely homes lined up, happy days x

Oh how sad :( At least they had a responsible person to look after them through the birth :).

I am so sorry for what has happened. It is so gutting! 8...

Hopefully, both girls will recover and enjoy a happy future - and we will get to know them in their new home.
 
Helen I am so sorry to hear of your loss, you do an amazing job with the piggies you rescue. Good to hear that the sows have a happy home lined up after their trauma xx
 
I really admire what you did. And, I am very glad to hear that both girls are alive and well. Please don't let them go to an irresponsible owner. I know you won't. God Bless you! God Bless those piggies too!
 
I am so sorry for such sad news, terrible shame that these little ones didn't get to experience the good life that was waiting for them. Hugs to you Helen.

That so awful, the mums were lucky to be with you when they gave birth at least they have a good life to look forward to thanks to you, it must be hard for you when you have to deal with tragedies like this, but without you they may all have died mums as well.

Run fee mini-pigs and get well soon mums so you can start your new life.

I actually started the Mum on a little Baytril yesterday - Becky was here and between us we knew they had died in utero - seen it all before - still very upsetting to have to deliver them manually and break the sacs open though - each time I thought - "will this one have heartbeat"

I tried to bring the 4 I delivered back to life with the correct procedure but to no avail. Very very sad.

Mum is brilliant this morning - a different lady - I am thrilled for her.
