ive not been around for nearly two weeks due to family stuff and my oh has been caring for the pets mostly. However i have been popping in to fill their bowls myself when i can and noticed nemmy has stopped eating his harringtons. Two if my others love it but nemmy not as much, so i gave him some muesli as he normally loves that and hes hardly touched that either. So last night i got him out to give him a quick check over his teeth seem fine and he still eats veggies. Ive moved him into a nursing cage to observe him closer and gave him some nuggets in the hopes hell eat those . Hes lost 150 grams in the last couple of weeks he seems ok otherwise and the piggies were all calling out for him overnight once they realised he wasn't coming back to his normal cage and he was responding. Any idea what it may be ? Ill give him a thorough check tonight . What else Can i feed him to get his appetite back? He currently weighs a kilo

Hi! Please have him seen by a piggy savvy cet as soon as you can get an appointment; that is a very big weight loss.

Here is our step-by-step hand feeding guide, which you may find helpful. Keep weighing daily and top him up accordingly; make sure that you also offer water, especially in this warmer weather. Is he showing signs of pain? Loss of appetite is often connected to pain.

Have you checked his back teeth as well as his front teeth? Weight loss can have many reasons, some much less obvious than others. Please check how much he is drinking. If he is drinking a lot, then you are looking at kidney/diabetes issues, which can come with sudden weight loss episodes. Check for lumps anywhere on or in the body.

I agree with Wiebke that he needs to see a vet as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Metatone Vitamin tonic (you can get from the vitamin aisle in any supermarket) is said to help stimulate the appetite of a poorly pig. 0.5ml once a day for the first week and 0.3ml for the second week.

cool thanks i just got home from work and his food bowl has gone down which is a good sign and hes had veg today too. I'm gona weigh him again in a min so will let you know what it is

Good news is his weight says 1.1kg today so up 100grams. Maybe i weighed him wrong before i need better scales eventually gona keep him in the nursing cage for a week to observe him and ill call my vet right away if in any doubt!
better safe than sorry even if it is me being dumb and reading the scales wrong after all i am to tired to function this week due to what ive been doing lol
