I cant believe I'm actually saying this but I'm now the owner to 16 PIGGIES! & 1 Rabbit..
I'm actually in love with every single one of them!

Anyone near the Doncaster area know where i can get cheap shavings from? I'm probably going to need to get cheaper ones now i have more cages to tend too!

But love I'm a owner to, Felix, Greyam, Minni, Alfie, Pippa, Lula, Spike, Meeko, Archie, Bo, Harry, Amber, Poppy, Holly (the rabbit and the other piggy still dont have namess :/)

x)

And i thought i was bad with 6 (Plus the other animals at the zoo :x)
I dont know where youd get shavings from local as i dont use them, a shop near me does a fairly large bag for a few £ though....

The best places for beddings is a local equine shop, that sell horse things as they sell big bales of hay and sawdust along with other beddings in sizes suitable for horse stalls (:

Well i thought i was bad when i had 7 guinea pigs!
But i couldnt help having more!

And i pay £8.59 for a large compacted bale of shaving which lasts me a little while, but i was trying to look for something cheaper thats all.. :)p

...plus two foster piggies since the beginning of the week.

And yes, you can love each of them individually and not mix them up... x)

You will soon be like me! :(|) I have 22 and can tell you all their individual likes, dislikes and mannerisms. Is that sad? ?/

Yay - welcome to the club! :)

You're paying a good price for shavings - mine are that much and I get them from a farm/equine supplies shop. You're not going to find a bedding that works out much cheaper unless you go to fleece or vetbed that you can wash and save money on over time. Frankly though I personally couldn't do it with my lot, the amount of washing would be insane and I imagine that the extra bills for washing would exceed what I could possibly save on the actual bedding.

A bale of shavings costs me about the same and lasts 3-4 full cleanouts of a shed floor and two 5x2 hutches - so we get through about a bale and a bit a month. Bliss basic could be cheaper - it would be worth asking your local equine shop about it. I haven't had chance to try it yet, I intend to give it a go in the next few weeks when we run out of shavings, so I can't tell you whether it's cheaper than shavings.

Newspaper and hay would be an option, but you'd have to source newspaper and it wouldn't last as long between clean outs.

WOW! You are all elite owners :)

How did you get so many? I know it's easy to get them ha ha but how did you come across the piggies you decided to get?

I want 16 piggies.........or 22..........or more? But until I move to a bigger home (plans afoot for end of next year) I am going to have to make do with just my 2 boys.

Maybe you can line all yours up like Wiebke did and give us a photo?

Amd how did you come by them? It sounds like you got them all at once.

Lol! Amazing pic don't know how on earth you managed to get all 16 piggies to stay put long enough to take it... I struggle with just the 2!

Can't wait until I'm in a position to have more piggies, would like another 2 or maybe 4... Or possibly 6... :))

*dreams of pigtures* hint hint :))

My local equine shop is less than 6 for a massive bale of standard shavings and 6.50 for more dense larger chips of wood.

oh my, ide love that many piggys, hmmm, maybe when hubby decorates my piggy room will i be aloud :)

They sort of accumulate over time, a piggy here and a couple there... so you adjust slowly and learn to organise and cope. I had to wait for five years before I could make my dreaam of having a little group come true - it's gone a bit further now!

Mine are mostly either part of a huge rescue haul (and then it is often the ones that I love best or that remind me of a much beloved RIP piggy) or they are piggies that were stuck in rescue for some reason, and then looks generally don't matter at all as long as they are suited to live in the setting I'm providing. My two neutered boars were chosen/dated for their different personalities. One suprise piggy was born here and needed a playmate who had a sister... I love to have a range of ages in my groups like you would in a real life group. :)

Haha or you do it like I did, go a bit nuts and jump from two to twenty guinea pigs in about 6 months... @) (I wouldn't advise that though... it was insane.)

I got mine over time, i kind of went crazy for wanting more and more! I think i went from 7 to 16 in the space of two months! :o oopss.. Cant help it!

I will definatley try and get a picture of them all together, it will just be a challenge as they are all so active! but i will make it a challenge for myself :)

I have a local rescue centre which have told me to contact them for the shavings department, i will be ringing them tomorrow to find out what they can tell me :) :)

Thanks again for the responses.. :)

I'm not sure if it will be cheaper with delivery or not as i'm local but 20kg of shavings is £6 and delivery is about £5 i think
TFM
Not sure if it will still be cheaper as i just noticed 25p for every kg over 15
