Hello,
I need help with my current situation. I have 1 10 week old male guinea pig. Zorro (as I've named him) needs a friend but I can't get males. I search for spayed sows, but I hear a fact that changes everything. "An old piggy can't have any babies so it's fine to keep her with a male." But, I also hear that that an elderly sow can become pregnant but isn't able to give birth, thus leading to death. The question that this boils down to is..."Can you keep a 2 year old guinea pig with a young male guinea pig?"

I will answer your question. You cannot keep an intact male guinea pig with an intact (unspayed sow). Sows can become pregnant at any age. But their increasing age increases the risk of death in labour. Putting 2 intact piggies of opposite sex is intentional breeding and very dangerous for sows. Please do not put any un neutered sow with any un neutered boar.

I assume you still have the other two? Keep the other two together in one cage, and the Zorro can be in a separate cage next to the other pair. They can interact through the bars so Zorro won’t become lonely. Zorro does need a friend for the long term, but in the short term, while you find him a compatible friend, he will be ok with interaction through the bars with the other two.

While he is unneutered, your only option is to find him another boar to live with.
You had mentioned you were going to rehome some of them. Is that still your plan?
If you are keeping the other two piggies (and keeping them together as a pair) then you don’t want a sow living with Zorro (once he is neutered) if they are to remain in the same room as the boar pair
 
My plan is rehome 2 of my three boars and I've already rehomed 1. Now I have 2 male guinea pigs, one of which I'm currently searching for a new home for him. I have to sell 2 because none of my piggies get along and I sadly don't have space to keep them in their own pens. The goal is to keep 1 of my males and ad 1 spayed female. I can't just get another male for I can't afford for him to fight with the male I'm planning to keep.
I hope this makes sense and sorry if it's confusing.

At the risk of repeating myself you are most unlikely to find a spayed sow. People don’t tend to rehome them and the operation is only done on medical grounds. If anyone is giving away a sow says they are spayed, there is no way to check unless you can see the vet records of the spay. You could be waiting a very long time to find a truly spayed sow.

You really would do better to neuter the boar you are keeping then find him an intact sow. That would be the simplest solution.

Or rehome all 3 boars and find a pair of sows who are less likely to fall out. That may be a less palatable solution for you
 
:agr: With Vicki And I was just typing the same thing. Neutering your boy when he is old enough (3/4 months old onwards) and then finding him a sow is most likely to be the easiest solution here.

It also helps with the long term if he is neutered - if you do happen to find a spayed sow now, its most likely she will be older given spaying is done for medical need (ovarian cysts being the common reason and sows tend to be older than two years old before cysts present), which means she may well pass away first and then youll be back in the same position (hopefully it would be many many years away though), trying to find a spayed sow for your unneutered older boar
