My boyfriend and I (mainly me but he is putting up with me constantly changing my mind) have decided on a C&C cage for 2 guinea pigs. I'm waiting for a pair to show up at our local RSPCA! I don't care how long I have to wait, I'm sure it will be fate and 2 will arrive for me when the time is right :D

I love this site that I found on here and want a 6x2 size and think I want a loft but can't decide on a 1x2 or 2x2.. I was going to go for a Liberta 150 but I thought with a C&C cage I can add bits, take bits off and everything. It's cheaper and much bigger than the Liberta 150 so yay :D

Or do I even go for a loft? Are lofts a good thing? Cleaning out isn't something I'm bothered about (I clean up after 6 rabbits every day, twice a day!) but is a 2x2 more difficult to reach at the back?

Here is a photo of where it will go, it's a wardrobe we flipped and lino'ed to maximise space for the rabbits and the top is just storage at the moment (so ignore the mess! I still haven't got round to cleaning it properly after my hamster died last week). It's approximately 8.5ft long and just over 2ft deep.

I personally don't like lofts. I worry about accidents, the ramp will take up floor space, and you'll struggle to clean below with a 2x2 loft. If you really want a loft, then an L shape, or a 1x2. Floor space is all that counts, lofts are only useful for hay really.

That's a good point, I kept a dwarf hamster in the Alexander cage which is 2 (nearly full) levels and when she was due a full clean out it was a pain!

Maybe if I go for a 6x2 to start with I could always extend to 7/8x2 depending on of I can fit that on or not :)

If you can fit a 7x2 now, then it will be best to start off that size, otherwise there's a waste of correx if you want to extend it.

I had a loft, but removed it soon after. The thought of keeping hay off the fleece was great. But I hated having a loft, I found cleaning under the loft area annoying and difficult. Like mentioned above, I was worried about them falling off the ramp and the ramp also takes up some floor space, which got in the way of them running around sometimes!

So I just moved the hay downstairs and got rid of the loft altogether!

you could always do the correx so you have a 2x5 base and a 2x1 base, put a bendy bridge over the divide then you have a kitchen area that wont go on the fleece?

I will post a pigture of my kitchen area. Once I've got it uploaded on my pc some time.

Ours love the loft and racing up and down the ramp. However the ramp is made from bending a cnc square to form a u shape.

I have a 1x2 in each of my boys cage and they both spend most of their time up there, as it is always full to them brim with hay. Mine adore their lofts and haven't ever had trouble with the ramps (One is from the site you're planning on buying from, another is wooden, both have lasted very well), however I second that it takes away some floor space. I don't find the cage cleaning process harder with them there though.

My boars can't really run as much with the ramp there but I don't have the heart to take the lofts away now that they are so smitten!

My boys have a 1x2 loft also but they don't need as much floor space on the base of their cage as they can leave to run around the house whenever they want. You can always start without a loft and see if you really want it! I like your idea of buying more cuddly bits and bobs instead haha :D

I think buying more bits is better too, but my boyfriend doesn't seem to think so haha!
I did think I could just go with the 6x2 for now and then buy a 1x2 loft separately from them later on :D
