Hi

After trying and failing miserably to get my pigs to move over onto pellets instead of muesli, I've got 2 bags of food that they just won't touch. We have 1 bag of excel (orange bag) and 1 bag of Pets at Home pellets. The Pets at home pellets are barely touched. The excel one is about 3/4 full. Both are less than a fortnight old.

They just aren't interested in them at all and will only eat Wagg or Gerty Guinea. I know they're full of additives and they selectively feed. It's so frustrating.

Anyway, if anyone wants to come and pick them up, I'm in Northwich, Cheshire. If you PM me, I'll give you the address and arrange a time.

Doh! If only i were closer i would have taken the P@H nuggets, they are the only ones my pigs will touch!

mine wouldnt eat those either but they do scoff through wagg nuggets, would you like me to send you a sample for you to try, also didnt you try emailing the companies for free bees?

Mine have become such little divas recently. I've tried everything to get them to eat pellets. If I mix them in with muesli, they pick them out and throw them over their shoulders!

If I put 2 bowls in, one with muesli and one with pellets, they sit in the pellets while eating the muesli. This morning, I thought right that's it, no more muesli and only put pellets in. They went on hunger strike and gave me such dirty looks everytime I went in the kitchen, I caved in after about 4 hours!

The way they devoured their Gerty Guinea, you'd think they'd been starved for days! (I might add they had been eating hay and having veggies during those 4 hours of 'starvation').

I'm sure I'm just being too soft on them but I can't stand their desperate little faces!

No, I should have got some freebies first to check they liked them - duh mallethead

That's so kind - where do wagg nuggets come from - I've never seen them? I was going to order a couple of Christmas presents from you though - so perhaps when you send those out, you could pop a tiny amount in if you're sure you wouldn't mind.

Mine are like this over anything they dont like, (hay, veg, treats or dry food) they just sit next to it and stare at me as if to say, yes its still there and were not eating it, change it to something you know we like or you'll regret it, never tried the wagg pellets, never seen them actually..... might look into that, as they like the wagg muesli.

They are spoilt rotten! I don't have children and dread to think what little brats they'd be if I brought them up like my pigs! They'd be eating sweets all day long and screaming at the tops of their voices when they want more!

Do they come in smaller bags hun? 1) i am not sure if mine will eat them - probably not. & 2) I dont have the space to store such a huge bag.

Do pet shops sell them? Never seen them before.

If you have to feed them any mixed food, please don't use Gerty it is full of colourants & not good for them. Wagg Guinea Crunch is far better; okay they may still selective feed, but it doesn't contain the colourants etc that Gerty does.

Also Gerty can sometimes give a false positive for diabetes in piggies. The Cambridgeshire Cavy Trust recommend Wagg Guinea Crunch so I have used since as Vedra has over 30 years experience of piggy ailments. :)

Yes i think so, its not that big but it is 10kg i was paying £4.99 for 2.5kg and i had to bike there to get it so i got this delivered to my door for the same price and now i've found it cheaper, mine selective feed any museli and i tried all the pellets and they like this best.

Thanks I appreciate the advice. We've actually run out of Gerty today and stocked up on Wagg so glad I made the right choice. They prefer Gerty but they do get white wee spots (excess calcium?) with it which concerns me. We've just had a poorly pig who wouldn't eat so we switched over to Gerty for a while just to get her eating again but we'll stick with Wagg from now on xx

Thanks Lorraine - really appreciate it. I'll get in touch shortly to place an order for a couple of accessories (one for my sister and I was hoping to get one for my Secret Santa piggie when I know who it'll be!) Just wanted to see who I get first as I know some pigs with very, very bad skin complaints are probably better off without fleecy things x

Just double checking no-one wants these bags of food. They're free!

Presumably there's no-one close to me here. If I don't hear anything I'll probably give them to Cavy Haven at the weekend as its only a couple of miles away (I know its not a favourite on the forum but better that than in the bin!)
