2 different personality’s

I’ve had 2 boys for about 9 months for now. I keep them in separate cages because we have tried bonding twice, and it didn’t work out. So we keep one ontop of a table and the other below it, so they can hear and chirp together but not see. One of them (Charlie) is a big nipper and is very outgoing. Sometimes when I would scoop his business he would follow me and try to nip at me. He also likes to have the zoomies a lot. Is the nipping just in his personality, or is that just how he defends himself? My other one (Carlos) is a shy pig but also curious. He doesn’t nip at all but he sometimes runs away when I try to pet him. He also gets scared by some unfarmiliar noises and also the vacuum (even if it’s in the other room). But both don’t let me pick them up. I’ve tried many times, and I usually have to corner them or get them in their travel bags then put them on my lap with a carrot. Any advice? Or why their behaviors are like this ?

Guinea pigs have many different personalities and it can take longer to bond with one piggy than another. Piggies usually don't like being picked up because the only reason that would happen in the wild is if a bird was looking for their dinner. A less stressful way for the guinea pigs to be moved out of their cage is to use a tunnel or a cozy. Just lore your piggie inside close the openings and then move them. Guinea pigs usually bite when their scared or uncomfortable, for example, my guinea pig bites my hand when I hold her. Although sometimes you might have leftover vegetable smell on your hand and the guinea pigs mistake your hand for some lettuce. Have you ever put their cages side by side so they can see each other ?

Thanks for the idea! Yes, I moved their cages next to each other when I was slowly trying to bond them. Now if I do it they let off their smells or try to bite each others noses.
