Hi

I was just wondering if anyone would like, or knows someone who would like, two female guinea pigs.

my children have lost interest in ours, mainly because they live outside in a shed, I think. It seems a shame to keep them for years and they be ignored when someone else could enjoy them, and we can't move them indoors because we have cats.

I don't really want to just take them to Pets at Home or a rescue place as I feel we are responsible for rehoming them, but I'm wary of just selling them to people I don't know as I would like them to go to a good home. We live in Bristol.

Thanks.

Sarah

Please be aware that you will not automatically rehome to a good home when trying to rehome through a guinea pig forum; it is still up to you to check out the people and homes!

A reputable guinea pig rescue is still a safe place to rehome your piggies through, as they will go only to suitable home checked homes and the guinea pigs will have be handed back into rescue if circumstances change, as per contract when adopting.

You have a good rescue near you: http://www.yatesmallanimalfosterandrehome.webs.com/

Best of luck with your search!

did you get them from a rescue in the first place? Just you may have to return them to them if so.

Good luck finding a home x

Thanks. Just didn't want to add to their probably already growing numbers of guinea pigs, but will try them if I don't find anyone else suitable.

Long or short hair? Do they have housing? Where in Bristol are you? Sorry for the questions.

I have a cat and he is no problem with my piggies. He lies by the run in the sunshine, and doesn't bother them at all.

Unfortunately we have 3 cats and they all show lots of interest in them and I couldn't risk them getting hold of them. I think if he had them inside there is a high chance that one of the kids would leave the cage open at some time and I wouldn't want that.

Thanks.

Its so hard to resist as I am broody again rolleyes but 4 is my max. I have a dog that thinks I am fattening mine up for her and in the next few months they are going to have to come inside from being "safe" in their hutch outside. I dont have kids though so its up to me alone to make sure the dog cannot get to the piggies and I have the advantage of a spare room which I can close the door on when we are not about and at night.

Hope you find someone to help (and resisting the urge to bring them here :{ )

My piggies live in the house in one of the kids bedrooms, keeps them interested in interacting with them more.

I have three dogs, all of which have keen hunting instincts.

Kids are not allowed to handle pigs without asking first.
Dogs are not allowed in the room pigs live.
Door is to be kept shut to that room and there is a safety gate also on the doorway just in case.

You could also add a secure top to the cage with a simple lock if you think the kids would leave it open.

It's def do-able; just depends on how devoted to caring for your animals you are.
