I have discovered that Eleanor and Eliza love cherry tomatoes. When I feed them these, I usually cut them up in to pieces. However, Chris decided to give them one whole cherry tomato each earlier. They loved eating it and had much fun BUT they sure did make a mess. Both girls managed to get wet down their chins, bellies and feet and stank of tomato. I have just spent the last half an hour cleaning them up. I think I will stick to giving them their veggies myself in future :))

Tomato chins all the time here! What always amazes me is how far they can get the pips up the wall surrounding their cages.... :)):))

I had a guinea pig called Mouse(i know, stupid name for a guinea pig) who used to sit on the cherry tom's that i put in the teatime feed, she would run around like a loony then plonk herself down and wouldnt let any of the others near...never did her any harm but be advised not to give too many to one pig.

Dizzy and Llewelyn don't like cherries, but Minx and Mischief did, and had much fun with licking off the messes aftrewards...

Haven't tried them on the girls, yet.

But what is it with OHs? Mine can't be bothered to cut tomatoes either!

I've discovered that the wall behind my girl's cage is covered in tomato splats. Not quite sure how on earth it got there. rolleyes

:)) Yes, when mine have tomatoes they get it all down their chins and they smell of tomatoes too afterwards. They are not that keen on tomatoes maybe because they hate getting it all down them

aww, bless the piggies that like tomatoes! i tried pheobe and ruby with them when we first had them. ruby didnt let pheobe near them and ended up with the juice EVERYWHERE including in her ears! LOL! so i had to put them in the run, clean their cage and surrounding walls and then clean ruby up, pheobe was smirking as she was so clean! ruby jumped out the washing up bowl and ended up under the sofa, needless to say the carpet ended up covered with pips and water with shampoo! It was hilarious!

:)) This is why I never let them have the seeds. They don't like the seeds in any case, I cut the tomatoes in half and squeeze/remove the seeds, leaving the skin. All of them wolf them down like there's no tomorrow!

You see, thats what I usually do but Chris being a typical bloke......?/mallethead:o lol :))

I usually give mine a chunk of normal tomato with the seeds removed but i tried them on cherry tomatoes last week. Never again! What a mess they made. I had to change the fleece. The seeds and juice were trodden all over it not to mention Alan my white pig had a pink chin. I ended up de-seeding the rest so as not to waste them and we're back on big easily scooped out tomatoes now. ;)
