Hi, Does anyone know what the average weight of a piggie should be?

Also, I have my boys some guinea pig food and you know they have the green bits, orange bits, and the long brown things in it. Well, my boys don't eat the brown things, none of my other guineas have ever eaten those bits. Does anyone else have this? I can leave it down all day and it wont be eaten at all, they only leave thiose bits so I have a bowl full of that left when I check on them.

Is there anywhere that sells just the other bits and not the brown bits? A mix and match feed.

Thanks
Amy x

Hey, I used to feed my pigs on a mix food like that, they too were fussy. The best thing is to feed nuggets as this cuts out selective feeding as everything they need is in each nugget. My girls love the nuggets now :)

without knowing the brand its kinda hard to know what they arent eating, but yea like Ilovemypigs said, if your piggies are selective feeding (i.e. only eating the parts they like) it might be best to try feeding them pellets or nuggets, so they get all the nutrition they need.
pigs are like us, just because something is good for us doesnt mean we wanna eat it :)

their weight will depend on their age I guess....

All the pets I've ever had have done this. Those grey/brown pellets are clearly not very tasty.
I feed my guineas pets-at-home nuggets, which they eat just fine. And because they get fresh fruit or vegetables every day and hay, it's not like their diet is dull :)

My advise would be switching them over to quality pellets like Oxbow Cavy Cuisine or the Burgess Supa Excel Guinea Pig pellets.

Mix gives them a lot of reasons to pick, &. really, not very advisable imo.

thanks guys, i will consider it, but pellets are so expensive, whereas I pay £1.99 for a big bag of mix.

so will stick to what I got for now, as still got lots left.

thankyou for all your help x

Hi Wagg nuggets are probably the cheapest and we buy a 10kg bag for about £10. If you think about it it is not cost effective for you to buy the mix food as you are wasting a 3rd of it anyway.xx
