Hiya Everyone!

Some of you may remember that a while back i was looking for a piggie to come and join Daisy and Minnow, well I have fallen in love with a lovely neutered boar, but I was wondering, Daisy can be a bit grumpy sometimes and all minnow wants to do is snuggle, would a boar be a good option?
I've heard stories on here of boars keeping the peace between sows and I was just wondering whether I would be making a mistake adopting a boar, would Daisy object to a man seeing as shes so dominant?
Opinions please?

Thanks

They will need to be introduced carefully and slowly in a neutral area, but it should be fine. I've only done adding a girl to a pair before and the girls took a while to get used to each other. There's many much more experienced people here..

They need plenty of space and a hidey hole each to stop them falling out over who gets to hide where. When I tried to introduce an elderly pair of sows to my existing pair it failed because they didn't have enough room to get away from each other and at that age I didn't want to risk injuries. But i can put them out on the lawn together because it's over 20 square feet and they have room to sort out any arguments.

Not sure about males sorting squabbles - my boars have always kept well out if the way of grumpy ladies. Marmaduke is a massive 1.5 kg boar, but Prissie just has to look at him funny and she gets the food or hidey hole.

I never had a problem introducing a boar to (at the time) 5 sows who would occationally fight. The dominant sow did not have a problem with a man being introduced and it certainly calmed them right down, she backed down and is now happily just part of the group. I now have 8 sows and a boar, they work just fine. They all have the odd disagreement, but nothing major and Ozzie (my boar) will usually step in and keeps the peace. I dont think its a mistake at all. I'd say go for it! :)

I introduced my neutered boy Cyrus to Matilda and Sabeene recently. Matilda was always the dominant piggie and remains so. Cyrus knows his place in the ranks:(|) It is wonderful to see them together and apart from little Sabeene briefly chattering her teeth at Cyrus, they are all very content together.......cyrus had been living next to the girls for some time, so there was probably a familiarity between them already......Cyrus is so proud of his girlies and is always nuzzling and grooming them.....Best of luck with the bonding.....

Thanks I really love him, just got to convince my mum now! Any tips?
