Yesterday marked a years anniversary of when the first few rescues, Heathlands & Wood Green began the "285" rescue, after that, with some amazing organization, commitment and planning, spaces were found for a huge chunk of the piggies by the piggy bank. I am very proud to have been part of it, and it truly went to show how a few people with a passion & drive could make a difference, it was after all a momentous task!

I gained two gorgeous piggies from this rescue, Blake my gentle sheltie boy, who i brought home as a "foster" on the evening of the 3rd of feb & later Acorn, who is as feisty as she is cute, as a companion for my neutered boy in April.

I would love to see piccies of all the lucky pigs who got new homes with people here!

So please share your 285 boys or girls!

xoxo

I remember this rescue like it was yesterday, from the stories that Marie told me to seeing the sea of sacks of rubbish from the cleaning out of the piggies at the owners house. I still have Romeo here at the rescue, he was a bully in with 2 other boys, he has now found his soul mate. From the stacking carrier and boxes into transporters cars and seeing them drive off knowing these piggies were going to be looked after. Just from me, thank you to everyone who helped and supported getting these piggies out.

We've still got Chas, Henry (now resident), Gilbert and Sullivan from this rescue - can't believe it was a year ago! If I get time later I will pop some pics on.

Here's a photo of Astro (nee squeek) who we had from RSPCA Walsall last year, who we believe was from the 285 (sportbilly or x-vic-x can confirm).

And at his weekly weigh in, now steady at 1360 grams each week (give or take a bladder full)

As promised I've managed to dig out some pics of the foster boys that came to me from this rescue on behalf of Crawley GP Rescue.

First we have Chas and Dave, this is probably my favourite pic of these gorgeous boys, however, it's bitter sweet as we lost Dave (the smooth coated boy) only last week and we are all missing him dreadfully.

Next we have Gilbert & Sullivan, a funny pair of boys. Gil is huge, a really chunky piggy. The first picture is from last summer when the boys were finding out what grass was all about!

Finally we have Henry, this was the day he arrived - one very tiny, frightened piggy

I can't find my recent pics of him, but he has turned out to be one HUGE piggy, a real chunky boy. He came in with a himi swiss on arrival day, but sadly Lenny died 3 weeks after reaching us. I had just lost one of my long term boys Crash and his friend Eddie was very sad so I tried bonding him with Henry and the rest, as they say, is history. The boys hit it off straight away and have been loved up ever since.

Gosh, a year already. This was a truly mammoth and inspirational rescue effort with so many people involved. I particularly remember Marie handing me box after box out of the van at Wood Green. They had run out of boxes at the owners house so the last ones had traveled in their hutches! Then me running round with my list and a marker pen, naming the boxes for the different rescues so they went in the right cars.

Thank you again to all the rescuers, transporters and all those that have given these piggies forever homes. x

Aww I remember these two well :) 1.7KG! What a monster :))

Believe it or not, though a little twist my little Peppa is from the 285 lot of piggies. One of the very few sows rescued. She is a gorgeous satin silver agouti. And is loving her life now in with the herd. She came from Hazelcroft rescue this last year.

Peppa is beauutiful, she had two satin silvers (the original owner) which i health checked initially, living in (thankfully) one of the larger hutches in she shed. I absolutely fell in love with tham, and was very, very tempted just to stick one up my jumper and take home to be Harvey's future wife. Gorgeous girlies they were. So lovely seeing all these piggies :)

Me too, cannot believe it's been a year :x Loaded 'our' piggies bound for the Midland rescues and Jenny racing over with another box at the last minute :(|)
An amazing experience and one I'll never ever forget :)

I can't believe is has been a year. Even my 'no more piggies, not ever' partner was loving and tender with the two pairs of boys we delivered form Walsall to the Potteries. Some how all the piggy trains I seem to do just fuel my passion for swiss pigggies.... One dayI will have one!

Swiss are very soppy! I have a very sweet little swiss foster boy at the moment and he will cuddle for ages. (He's aways toasty warm too!)

I have neve met a swiss I didn't like... I think my Hamish must have a bit of swiss in him as his tail feathers are far too long to be a true rex ( which is what he supposedly is...) and he has a similar shaped head. I just seem to always be moving swiss pigs!

I am just so pleased though to see all these handsome boys (and girls) happy and safe in their new homes. It was all so very worth while.
