So I plan on making a C&C cage and I would like it to have a second floor.
I plan to make it with fences to prevent piggies from falling, a ramp, and it will only cover about half of the first floor.
My dilemma is, I'm scared that the piggies will end up weeing and pooing under the second floor as I have had experience with other small animals doing. (Because they find comfort in pooping in a roofed area.)

So I'm hoping to make the second floor detachable for cleaning ease, but haven't figured out how.
Any ideas?
Please note I still want a secure, safe habitat for my piggies. :)

Thanks!

You could make it a 1 grid wide loft area going all the way round. That way you'd still be able to reach in to clean. Alternatively you could have the front of the bottom level with a front that can be loosened at either end to lie flat, that way you could slide out the corex for cleaning. They will poop and pee in the lower level, so you're not going to get round it that way. Have a look at this thread for ideas. Start from the last post and work back as most of the early pics are gone.

Hello, welcome to the forum. Well worth looking at the gallery above for ideas.

Do you have a single tier c&c at moment?

Thanks, I found this pretty helpful. Ill probably either do the loft thing or not have a second floor at all.

Not yet, but I have experience with c&c cages with other small animals, but I also recognize that the requirements are different for different animals.
I think Ive found a way to make it work. If not, I will just do it without a second floor

The best setup I've found with for adding a second floor for ease of cleaning is by having the loft area no bigger than 2x1 c&c and attaching it so that the base is 2/3rds of the way up the cube from the bottom level. A ramp about 15" long can then be used. A loft any bigger and you risk back ache and a lot of cursing whilst cleaning :)) Unless you can find a way of easily removing it to clean underneath? :hmm: *putsonthinkingcap*

I had a 2x2 loft on mine and I just couldn't get under it properly to clean. It lasted 1 week.
