CharlottiesPiggies

Mum took the babies to another vet who specialise in small animals and they believe they are three girls too! Unlik yesterday, I was given the three boy verdict.

So I am back to square One, however I have had quite a few ALL SOW verdicts, so I am still a little unsure, however I was advised that they dont really start breeding till about 8 weeks, so I still have a couple of weeks to keep them together and still inspect their bits and pieces.

still v confuzzled.

but some as early as three weeks -

just keep a close eye on them, and if you see ANY suspicious rumblestrutting going on I would seperate just to be on the safe side.

Boys can produce sperm at 3 weeks females can be pregnant from 4 weeks. The 8 weeks doesn't apply to guineas.

Is there anyone local to you on here who can sex them who is any good at it?

I do feel you have either got 3 boars or 3 sows it's just knowing what is what.

Yeah I havent noticed any suspicious behaviour like that, but I havent watched them for long enough, I might sit down tonight and watch.

I can't believe you have had such trouble getting them sexed :( It sounds like a nightmare, and like the others have said I'm pretty certain they are capable of reproducing significantly earlier than 8 weeks!

I mean the vet brought in three nurses to have a look and they were poking and prodding, and they are lacking in any form of a willy....to put it bluntly, nothing was poking out, so surely that would lead to the assumption they are girlies

Is there no way you can get to Jacky in Beckenham? I watched her sex a girl piggie who was less than 1 day old?

Crumbs it doesn't seem possible that trained vets can't even sex the piggies!?/ Good luck with Jacky lets hope she can sort them all out for you.:)

I looked at your photos again and I'm so sure (as sure as one can be looking at a photo) that the first two are boys, and I suspect the third is a sow. Can you please post more recent photos as they may be more developed now. x

sexing piggies

perhaps take piggies to the RSPCA or a rescue to see if they can help you,
as you live in ashford in kent does anyone on here live near you?
guinea pigs should be seperated from at 3 weeks as they become sexually active. so would not go back to second vet again.
really hoping you get them sexed, wishing you luck and many hugsxx>>>:rose

Jacky did say there was a lady in High Halden who was v experienced with piggies, I might give her a ring....I just think with even more opinion it will cloud the water.

Its easier to see in person that their bits and pieces are all the same, I have tried every trick in the book, so now I am trusting my own judgment.

I have used that website many-a-time, I have come to the conclusion now though.

Thank you
