squeeks

I wont go into a long story about how they arrived here other than saying some nasty horrid unscruppulous person was selling these lettle uns for a £1 and sadly my dad was too late getting the other 2 litter mates who were smaller. :'(They are the size of a mobile fone full of lice scared s bleep bleep less and skinny.
PLEASE COULD SOMEONE advice me onhow to help these little mites get healthy and weight up and also what to use for lice problem.

well done dad!
oh dear they are so young, you may need to see a vets. Hopefully some of the guys with large groups of pigs and experience of bubs will be able to help you.

thanks dads a soft touch like me and could come away and leave them he tried to get the others but they had been sold for a £1 disgusting.
I mean we already have piggies but they are rescues and older i have never had babies or little piggies.

best thing to do is keep them warm, and I would recommend Ivermectin'ing them, however I am not sure if thats advisable given their age.

I have some bheapher spot on as the other stuff i use is for over 12wks of age only and the gg lice shampoo i got for mine is also over 12wks :(

best thing to do would be to seek vet advice from a small animal specialist, they might able to adminster something for you

love to babies :smitten:

for the lice problem i would contact chrissie at gorgeous guineas, i to had babys with lice and she recommened that i use microneem which you dissolve in water and sponge on and this worked a treat and my babys ( and mom ) are now lice free and very happy. Good luck with babys, maybe worth taking them to get checked by a vet aswell

thanks u all so much i thought i was going to get flamed for taking them in :embarassed: so thank you for ot doing that.
I will contactr chrissie again poor woman will think iim a stalker lol.
Vet trip is monday open surgery as ours is closed now until then.

Chrissie is lovely, shes fantastic with advice and is always quick to reply, her products have worked wonders on my piggies, but mine are older so the methods I use might not be suitable for your piggies.

Hiya, I was in a similar situation with Maia and Ivy. Firstly do not use any mite treatment such as xeno 450/180 it will kill them, i spoke to the company when Maia was ill and they said not to use it. Weigh them everyday and even a small fluctation get them to the vets. Maia and Ivy both ate very well and I just made sure they had plenty of hay and good quality pellets plus veg. Ivy is absolutly thriving but we lost Maia through URI that she was too small to fight. Good luck and just keep and extra close eye on them.

i would offer small amounts of veggie, contact chrissie and see what she recomends for the lice. keep them warm, make sure they are eating and expelling waste. keep them quarentined and good luck at the vets O0 if you say where you are some memeber may live near you and be able to help O0 go on your dad for rescuing them poor little babies, hoping the other two are as lucky in finding a caring person as these two have been O0 hugs and healing vibes :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

do they need some type of milk subsitute? I don't know if anyone can advise maybe you should start a post in the pregnany forum and see what advice is given there

i did do and no they dont need a substitute :) checked them this morning and they seem fine.Think they are boys as i checked ad a pink thing popped up :-\ .Will keep checking them every 1.5 hrs to see if ythey are eatting and drinking as well as poopin.
Also emailed chrissie and asked her advice about lice treatment.

Well done for being a softie and taking them in!

I got two little piggies last week aged 6 weeks who I noticed had lice. I treated them yesterday with Seleen shampoo which the vet prescribed. I diluted it, wetted the babies, shampooed it in, left it for 5 minutes and rinsed it off. Then blow dried them ... keeping them warm all the time. They are fine today, but I know that I have to repeat the treatment in a week and then again in another week. Some shampoos that kill lice need the piggies to be over 12 weeks of age.

Don't forget that their accommodation needs a treatment too.

Keep feeding them lots of grass, dried mix, hay and very tasty and easy to eat fruit and veg.
Post some piccies when you can please!
