I got a phone call this morning to say that 3 guinea pigs had been dumped at a reptile shop. What on earth goes through peoples minds!!

OMG! What were they thinking? How can people do something so mean?
:(

what did they think they were going to do with them feed them to the snakes! OMG what are some people like! aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhh. Poor wee things, Fi are you off to rescue them?

That's horrible! How could someone even think of doing something like that?

At least the reptile place had the sense to phone you Fi.

It is amazing how some people can't be bothered to look up a rescue or the RSPCA... And, yet, those piggies are the lucky ones!

Yes I have a very good relationship with them and they raise funds for me as well. The good thing was that the shop is a 2 minute walk away from me.

I thought so - its the own reptile specific shop I know of in Bristol.

lol the RSPCA wouldn't have done anything believe me, I was in a situation once with a rabbit I could no longer keep and their response was for us to have it 'put to sleep'. The poor piggies shouldn't be dumped granted, but sometimes people just are not helpful.

Don't know why they chose to dump them outside a reptile shop, the first thing that springs to mind is feeding them to the snakes because I know a lot of people do that, so maybe they thought that who knows.

Unfortunately it appears that some RSPCAs see rabbits as a nuisense. I think the trouble is jo public don't realise small animals needs homes too and far to often source from pets shops / breeders making these smaller animals harder to rehome. As a result animals end up there for ages and there is no space for new ones.

some people seem to think small animals are disposable pets....ive had 6 gps dumped in my porch this week now (hence how i joined this site, i have not much idea on cavia care!) I'm dreading opening my door tomorrow incase theres another box :( luckily i got to them before my cats did....

I am not sure the RSPCA would of helped because they will only help if the animal is not well. They couldnt help me when 2 cats decided to make their home in my garden and then my house, cats protection league were brilliant even though they were full and gave me lots of numbers to call. Luckily I managed to rehome them myself to a friend.
On another occassion I phoned they neglect/abuse line regarding a local kennels and all they did was 2 weeks later pass it on to the council as they licence the property! great so in my eyes the RSPCA are not good, make your own mind up by reading this

OMG!

I have just signed it but not sure if they will accept it as I didn't make a donation.

How can they go on doing this when a governing body has already said it is cruel!

I can't get that link to work - does anyone else have one?

I'm glad the person dumped them outside somewhere that might care enough about them, even though they may not be able to help. It's better than being dumped out in the wild or killed.

Poor things! Who would ever do that in their right mind?! Grrrrr! :(
