I am currently fostering Chloe :smitten:, one of Grahams mini pighs until she goes to live with her new mummy.

Up until now she has been fine out of her cage, this morning she bolted and ran, heading straight for the gas fire. No problems thinks I, she'll be hiding under the fire. A quick peek revealed she had completely disappeared. I took the the front part of fire apart to reveal that she was hiding inside the fire it's self and though I could see her i couldn't reach her. I gave her half an hour in the hope she would come out on her own, using food to tempt her. She remained, stuck in the fire.

I ran British Gas Home Care who told me to ring Transco which I did and they said they would be out wtihin the hour, the first gasman appered and said he would have to turn the gas off but, he couldn't witch it back it, that would require a corgi registered fitter and cost around £180 :o :o and I might be waiting several weeks, I said that I had British Gas Home Care. He said that they would do it but it would cost £200 :o at this I panicked and told him that there is no way I can cope 2 weeks wothout heating, I explained to him that I am a severe asthmatic and already unwell, I think the barking chesty cough and the nebuliser on the floor would of given that away. He said he would do his best to help me.

Anyway, the gas turned off he starts to take the fire to bits but then relised that he couldn't get it off the wall so he called for his mate for back up who arrived and said that the fire is impossible to move from the wall and there was no way a piggy could get that far back, I then explained again where she was, it was then they relised that the fire didn't need taking off the wall but a couple of pipes needed moving, once they were moved Chloe was soon rescued with the aid of a fish slice and a piece of apple ::) but, she didn't come out with out a fight and yelled and struggled all the way but, she was soon back in her cage, dusty but non the worse for her experience.

The gasman then explained that he would isolate the fire (I don't use it anyway) and put the gas back on so I would have the boiler back up and running and thus heat. He went way and reappear several minutes later and informed that there was a problem, there was a full fall in presure meaning that there was a gas leak somewhere so he isolated the meter and advised that contact Bristish Gas Home Care who would check it out. I rang them and they said they would be out by 6. Yet another gasman appeared at 2pm and switched the gas back on and after a lot of backward and forwarding he inform that the fall in pressure was well with industry guidelines and the fact that I had not smelt gas it unlikely that I had a leak and so switched the gas on and then discovered that the boiler refused to work, it transpired that the meter had been capped but no mention of the fact on the meter, pressure was then checked again and again there was no evidence of a leak O0. So the gas is now back on and I have heating again thank goodness as I have a head cold and despite several layers of clothing, blankets and hotwater bottle I am still freezing.

Chloe is now living in the dining roon!
