I went in last night to feed my girls in the garage and found all 3 dead. I had not been in all day but had been with them the evening before and they were fine, all squeaky and cheeky as always. They were eating as normally, and had not been out in the garden so the only food they ate was what I had given them. I'm still in shock, and worried that what ever killed them might spread to my other guineas.
If any one has any ideas please let me know. I feel so bad, what if it was something I did. What could have killed them all quickly and at the same time? 8...

Oh I'm so sorry what an awful shock for you! :(

I've no experience with this but have they eaten any grass that had been sprayed with anything? Or a poisonous plant?

Are your other guineas in the garage too?

If so I would whizz them to a vet for a check over, it could have been a virus. Sadly when it is sudden like this it is hard to know but three in one night is very rare and I am inclined to think virus or they ate something they shouldn't.

Welcome to the forum.

Louise

Hi - I'm so sorry to hear about your pigs :( hope you are ok x

Only thing I would say is that I know that keeping piggy in a used garage - ie one that a car is parked in and out can be dangerous because of the car fumes....but if you dont use it for your car then that rules that one out...
Sorry again to hear whats happened

OMG what an awful shock for you. I am so sorry :0 I agree with what has already been said really, could they have caught a virus somehow or do you have a car in there? Whatever it could be, try not to blame yourself (((hugs)))

Oh no i'm so so sorry to hear this, what a dreadful shock for you and the remaining piggies 8...8...8...
RIP little ladies run free at the bridge, you'll be so sadly missed by your family but NEVER forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Love how's your other piggies? You said it was the girls who were dead 8... does this mean the boys are still alive?

I wish you all the best xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

So sorry to read about this.
Even if your car is not parked in the garage, if you are reversed into path with exhaust facing garage doors, very harmful fumes can get into your garage when starting and revving engine, as they rarely have 'sealed' doors. x

I am so sorry for your losses, it must have been devastating to find three all gone at once with no signs or symptoms. I'd be inclined to think poisoning for it to have affected that many and have had such a sudden effect.

Thats horrible! I'm so sorry! 8...
I agree with all of the posts above, it could have been the car fumes or something they were fed...maybe there was something different in their food then normal...my friends guinea pig just died the other day the exact same way as yours did, its odd how that happened...her pig was fine the night before and she woke up in the morning and found her precious piggy dead in her cage:( It shocked me and its devistating to hear about...and she gave us her piggies bag of pellets so we could feed them to our pigs, but we decided to throw them away because we had the same idea that it might have been something in the pellets...

Oh no! What a shock. I'm so sorry for your losses and my thoughts are with you xx

Thanks for all your kind words. The car is not parked in the garge, they have only been fed veg from the supermarket, the same food that the boys have eaten. The boys are inside, as it was their turn to be in the house.

I have no idea, it's very strange that they all went at the same time. I've lost piggies before but this has hit me harder.

Sleep well my beautiful girls. R.I .P Mymble, Little My and Thingumy xxx8...

Is the garage colder? Pigs don't like the change in temp so maybe they all had URI's without knowing pigs can hid it so well.

Would be odd to have a URI without you knowing though me thinks there is usually some outward symptom so if they have been acting the same as usual I would think a virus.

Without a PM sadly you will probably never know. Just awful for you. (((hugs)))

I'm very sorry to hear about you piggies! it must be awful for you!:(Do you have a boiler in the garage or perhaps a vent going in there that may have let fumes in?

I just wanted to say I really feel for you. I am desperately worried over one of mine at the moment, to lose three piggies out of the blue must be truly awful. Sending lots of sympathy your way...

Just a thought - some paint is poisonous. Any new toys to chew on?

Sarah x

So sorry for your tragic loss. Cant offer any advice but send my sympathies and hope the piggies are running free at rainbow bridge.

I really feel for you. Losing one is bad but 3 at once, how awful...

Hope you find an answer soon.
