so, Walter and William are now getting on well which is excellent. both have learnt to walk into a sleep sack in order for me to move them from their hutch to their play pen and do so quite happily. However, i do now feel that i am being a little pushed out lol! Walter loved having cuddles pre William but now if i take him out he just chats away to William and looks for any way to escape me to get back to his friend! William REFUSES to have any cuddles what so ever 8... Both will let me have a stroke but thats pretty much it. As i have never owned a guinea pig before, is this "normal / ok" ? I wasnt under the impression they were an overly cuddly breed by mine are really anti it and i do read in other places how everyone has lots of cuddles with their little ones. are they fibbing or do mine just prefer each other to their human slave?! :)

It depends on the piggie, i have 2 piggies which will happily be out for cuddles all day but one who will not, as soon she is out she is itching to escape and heads straight for the cage, she wont sit still and be touched, nor will she when she is in the cage!

thanks! that makes me feel a bit better lol! they seem happy just as they are, always chatting and pop corning etc so i shall just continue as i am with them! bribery with food hasnt worked and i dont really want to keep pushing them into being cuddled if they dont want to as i dont want to stress them out :)

I have quite a few who are not keen on cuddles; they rather want to be with their friends (which in my eyes is as it should be). But they have no problem with coming up to me for little treats, or giving me a little lick on the fingers. Wiiliam and Walter may be happier if they were on the sofa with you together? Just keep your hands off William, or brush him only "accidentally".

Spend time with them playing and getting relaxed with your body, and eventually you can get virtually every piggy to at least tolerate being stroked.

thank you. yes for a treat they will be stroked - Walter will be stroked without as well it is just the being picked up and sitting on a lap etc i agree that it is probably better that they want to be with each other than me so i will try not to be too disheartened lol! :)

My 2 girls are very close to each other and like to be around each other all the time. I take them out of there cage for cuddles and they always try to get back to each other, very quickly. They don't mind cuddles and quite enjoy me stroking them but I think they prefer each others company.

Give William time to get used to being a lap pig... he may come round eventually when he sees how comfy Walter is. Take it slowly.
