Hi,

I followed the guide, and decided to try my 4 Month old Girl (Rosy) with our 4 Year old Girl (Nibbles). I tried Neutral teritory on the Sofa and got ready for the fireworks, but after 30 minutes together, there was nothing :S

No nipping, or fighting, just a lot of noise as if they were happy to be together. I was expecting Nibbles to go into a dominance dance etc as she was the dominate one before our other Guinea Pig Died a couple of months ago, but nothing happened, the little one was just trying to snuggle up to Nibbles throughout. I gave them some cucumber each and they quite happily sat together and ate it.

After the event I put them back in there own cages, but any advice on what I should do next. Nibbles complained for about 10 minutes after seperation and tried to knaw out of her cage.

Hi! It is a real shame that you have put them back in their own cages and not together into the completely cleaned and preferable rearranged common cage/hutch.

Acceptance has obviously happened, so there is nothing to worry about. The girls will work out the shape of their relationship over the next few days and you may see some dominance behaviour then.

Once you have committed to an introduction, you need to stick to it forever or at a minimum of several hours in one go and not separate until their bloody fights or one of the piggies is showing signs of depression/weight loss. As your older girl is perfectly happy with having a friend again, I wouldn't expect any major trouble, apart from dominance behaviour once they move into the big cage.

Please start on the sofa again before moving to their cage - the intro was interrupted and you need to start from scratch.

Put them back together tonight on neutral territory, and all went really well, no fighting at all. After 30 minutes, cleaned out the cage completely, and put them both in there together. They have been together for 4 hours now with no problems whatsover, no dominance dancing or anything. My elder pig is quite content with her new friend and the pair of them are now snuggled up together in the home part of the cage, so very happy this evening.
