i dont know what to say bacisly I'm finding it hard now :( me and fiance been living together for a month in this house and the house seems to get messy I'm cleaning it and then fgoing to clean my pets they ones i love and its starting to get ontop of me I'm soo tired and this is my day off from work soo i should be tired the weather lush i cant spend time out there *** the pigs room smells they got a LARGE LARGE c&c cage and i havnt had time to clean them yet and it was like this 4 days ago i cant put them outside no hutch and no lid on run and a cat loves to sit on the window legde watching my pigs sooo i know one is about the window is open a bit *** the cat can get in other wise not my cat. I'm starting to think i dont have time for my belived pigs.
 
also me and ym fiance have started taking about taking some hoildays this year i got family to look after the pets but it isnt fair i got 3 dogs that need alot of my time they are my children and my chinchillas fair play they are good boys they keep them selfs to themself i dont find they smell but the pigs are starting to get alot of flys here and its bring me down i love them and dont now my fiance is going to get fly spray later I'm trying to keep ontop of the house work and its getting behind me :( having a house is soo hard.

Do you mean you feel that you have got too many animals? I feel that the basic care for piggies don't really take so much time. When I lost my first piggy I was so sad I couldn't spend a lot of time around the cage so I just did the bare necesseties for about 10 days until it has started to feel less painful. Chopping veggies, topping up hay and removing poop took less than 15 min a day. Cleaning out the cage took 30 minutes in total.

Compared to the time it takes to walk and take care of three dogs the piggies seem like the least of your animal problems?

If the cage is so dirty it's drawing flies you had better clean it, tired or not... If you can't do it yourself ask someone to help you. You owe the piggies that. Remember you chose them, they didn't chose you.

Just take a breath...

Sometimes having lots to do can feel insurmountable but if you try to see them as a series of small jobs instead of one big mess that can really help. Sit down with your bloke and make a list of what needs to be done then tackle things one at a time in order of priority. It sounds as though the pigs should come top of that list if they've been smelly for four days already. Things will get easier, having a house takes some work but organisation is the key.

i got flys in ym house i NEVER in my life had problems with them before i was alway on top but i got 8 pigs in the bed room and its just bad i am going to make a move and clean them now but its hard sometimes I'm doing the house work and caring for the pets my fiance is a lazy bum he goes to work that it and i work too., :( i trying to talk to him about this and i get a helping hand for 10mins and thats it.

no i done then 3 days ago the vet bed is crap lol i seem to washing it all the time I'm going to clean them now soo i will be back :D i got motavtion lol (spelling) thanks guys lol
 
you need to ensure you wash the vetbed properly. I stopped using it cos it smelled so bad! then I found out that you need to used BIO powder with it. I also add some cheap vinegar to my wash to ensure all the bacteria is dead. It has helped a lot.

8 pigs, chinchillaS and 3 dogs? no wonder you're tired... I too feel like I'm always trying to catch up with stuff. My OH works long hours so he can't really help. People on here are good at offering advice, though.

Maybe the flies come from something else (piece of rotten veg fallen behind the cage, for example)? Just a thought.

You say you have a LARGE LARGE C & C, that could well mean a large large amount of cleaning out. If this is getting on top of you, perhaps you could consider downsizing. Maybe sell your C & C, and use money towards a Nero 4 and keep just 2 guineas. I'm sure a rescue would help you out with rehoming some. It's easy to get carried away with the amount of guineas you have, especially when you see so many on here, but the biggest committment is time, so you really do need to have the time to manage a lot of guineas. I imagine cages are a lot easier/quicker to clean than a complicated C & C system.
If you check out the warm weather warning thread, there is a link to a website that sell fly netting for £3.99, and someone has said on there also, that it can be bought from the £1 shop, which should help.
It might be hard, but do try and make a decision quickly, as in hot weather like this, your guineas really do need cleaning more often, not less often. xx
 
It sounds like it's just getting all on top of you and getting you down. Maybe talk to your fiance and he can help out with the house work a bit more for a few days and give you a break?

I know you're tired, but I always find that even if I don't feel like cleaning, if I just do it and get it over with, then it's very therapeutic and makes you feel way better afterwards. I bet you'd feel a bit happier and relaxed if you just clean the cage and maybe get your fiance to help with some other things. And try to relax, maybe try taking a long bath or shower and go to bed early. You need to take care of yourself, it's really bad for you to be feeling that bad.
