Finally, it is here! :<>

BF worked so hard on it, the ramp is even hinged. 8;)

I plonked them on the top floor to show them and they looked scared and ran back down but my BF sneaked up and caught them on the top floor again of their own accord! Just hope they don't eat the wood!

How can I make it waterproof?

Here are the long awaited pics anyway! :(|)

That looks great! How do you do that? I'd like to try something like that for my boys... create a bit of extra space for them...
Is there a site that has a guide for that kind of thing?
xx

Looks fab and was worth the wait. :) have you thought about buying an inco pad and cutting/ sewing it to size?

what is an inco pad? :red

It's a washable incontinence bed pad. Stays dry on top, pee held in the middle layer and has a waterproof bottom layer. Some people have started using them under fleece as they last longer/ smell less than towels.

Sorry, link isn't working, just type inco pad into amazon and you'll see what I mean. x

I just showed him the pic Mackers did (hope you don't mind!) and his mate came up with the creation, I had a mini stress that the supports weren't enough but he kindly sorted that for me.

I am happy with it, hope they are. :)

I bet they're very happy. Extra space and a ramp to chase up and down- piggie paradise! :))

whoops meant to reply lol
He's obviously handy with his hands, think I'll have to buy something ready made, I'm not so great with woodwork! although I did get a C in wood work at school, but I was the cheeky girl who got the boys to do most of the hard bits for me HAHAHA, I was just better at drawing and design.
Looks really great and I'm sure your piggies love it :) x

Aaaww wow that looks great- give your other half a beer for doing such a great job :)

Yes, they vary in size and price. I'm planning to order from coastal linen supplies- they sell direct and through amazon. Here's a thread if you want to read up

Thanks, really helpful thread, and saw that mackers has said she cut and stitched inco pads to make smaller pads which still work fine also :)
Great! so glad I joined this site, as never liked wood shavings but thought that was all there was! how wrong I was! lol

Same here. I knew so little before and there's still so much to learn. :))

They are loving it, but pretending they aren't bothered. I keep catching them upstairs then they run down as if to say, that is rubbish mummy, I can't be bothered with this, I am going back down! :(|)

it maybe worth painting it with wood stain (piggie friendly of course) to protect it a bit more! I know p@h sell piggie friendly stuff but i bet other places do too

It looks great, and those boys must be loving it! x)

Thank you!

I am surprised they took to it as quick as they did, only bad thing is, I can hear them chewing it during the night! mallethead:(|)

It looks great! Wow! Such an improvement, so much more space and then the bonus of a cave underneath :) I bet they love it!

If you can stand the noise (or close the door) then the chewing is probably just good for their teeth. It'll take a LONG time for them to finish that loft :)

I just hope there is no dangerous glue or anything on it.

I am so impressed with it, the cave is annoying though because I have try to fish them out blind when they hide in there and I can't catch them! :(|)

I need to waterproof the bottom tonight cos they have done a big wee in the corner. grrrr

They seem chuffed with it! :)

Looks great - what about sticky lino or the floor tiles you can get. Cut them to size (with a lip up the side for splashes) then you can wipe it clean?

Looks fab - no wonder you're pleased with it! I'm looking to do something similar so thanks for sharing :)

About the chewing, do they have any wooden/twiggy alternative to chew on? Perhaps if they had willow sticks or something else "woody", intended for chewing, they may leave the loft alone?

Not sure if oilcloth type material is safe for piggies but, if so, you could perhaps stick that down as a lining? Dunelm Mill do some fab Cath Kidston-esque spotty designs which I've also seen on ebay. PVC/vinyl coated fabric would wipe down really easily but I'm not sure if there are pig-friendly adhesives which are strong enough to hold down the lining but also safe enough for nibblers.....anyone know?

That is a very good idea. :)

Splashes! :(|) Dirty little that they are! rolleyes
or the sticky backed plastic stuff if there no edges maybe they wont chew on it if the dont know its there you could kinda wrap up your hay loft like a pressie with it tuck all the edges in ect? btw is that a george peppa pig fleece in their cage? i wanted to get one for my girlies but my 3 year old would try dragging it out i just know it! lol loving the hay loft thou :) i keep meaning to try and post up pics of mine on here but i no good at all the techy stuff lol X
