My 5 month old sow has had problems with a head tilt and eyes rolling since I brought her home at 7 weeks old. Initial visit to the vet confirmed an ear infection, but she was only 3 months old so the vets were reluctant to prescribe any treatment, they just cleaned her ear and told us to go back if it doesn't clear up. I took her back yesterday as she started displaying symptoms again, with eyes rolling, and they did not find pus in the ear, however it was full of tar like wax which they cleaned out. They think her ear is very suspicious and there might be a very deep infection, but they couldn't see that far down into the ear. So they've prescribed her with the antibiotic baytril 0.26ml (to be given twice per day) and the probiotic fibreplex 1ml (to be given 3 times per day), and she has to have this for 5 days, does this sound like a correct dosage for her age to you guys?

I'm just concerned because Bactrim is the safer option for young Guinea Pigs, but they've given Baytril, I know it's a good antibiotic but it has already dampened my pigs appetite, when I've just spent the last 4 months trying to gain weight onto her. I'm not sure if I should carry on, or if this is okay for her and I should ride it out.
