i am heart broken, as 5 of my piggies have been killed. My partner and his friend was building me a new piggie shed and my friends dog killed 5 of my pigs. The top half of the stable door was open and she jumped in. Theres not a mark on them but flora doris ethal mouse and bessie are dead. Malcom is the only one that lived. It was awful if only i had kept the whole door shut. So loved them all and feel i have let them down. I cant stop crying. My poor girls i will never for give my self

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry for your loss! That is terrible! Don't blame yourself hun, you weren't to know! :( RIP little guys!

BIG HUG

I am so sorry for you - it's such a horrible thing to happen!

Way back in Switzerland as a teenager, I lost my first own piggy to our neighbour's dog and I still remember how I cried my heart out then!

Sadly, it usually happens in the blink of an eye; it's so easy to underestimate the curiosity and determination of bigger pets!

At least your piggies won't have suffered for long.

Sorry for you losses, but dont blame yourself as you wasn't to know what was going to happen. Just concentrate on the happy memories and think towards the future.

RIP little ones.

omg I'm so sorry for your loss. Thats awfull :( Dont blame your self, you wasnt to know and accidents happen....

R.I.P Girls x

I'm so sorry. Run free at Rainbow Bridge little ones and know that you will be sadly missed..

I am really sorry for your poor wee piggies, how is malcolm doing on his own? I hope your neighbour was suitable apologetic about the distress their dog has caused you! You are not to blame and try not to blame yourself. Big hugs to you and malcolm

I just cant stop crying, my poor poor piggies. I have put malcome in with 2 girls and in a different pen. I dont think he would cope with being back in the same pen. Thank you for all your kind words. I was worried about posting on here as I blame myself...

This is just awful but you can't blame yourself. You did the best you could for your girls. Rest in peace x

My two pet mice got savaged the other day by my ferret, he got loose knocked their cage off and terrorised them before killing them. I got so mad, so upset, the ferret is banished to the back yard, in the shed now forever more. Instinct to kill or not I will NEVER EVER forgive that ferret. If it had been any of my guinea pigs I wouldn't have been held responsible for my actions, they are my babies and I am their protector, it would have destroyed me. Kept me awake for months and sent me mental because as I said I would blame myself completely because it is my duty to protect them.

Please do not blame yourself because you were not to know that the dog would do that. I hope you can feel better eventually because you must be feeling like crap, but it's not your fault at all.

RIP piggies see you at Rainbow Bridge with many other piggies and animals x

You loved those girls, I can tell that from this thread, if you had known this was going to happen, you'd have stopped it.
So please, don't blame yourself. If there was more you could have done, I, and everyone else knows that you would have done it.

Rest in peace little ones. You were loved more than you can imagine.

And you take care of yourself, too. This is a horrible thing to have to go through...I can't even imagine.
So please, take good care of yourself and you cry all you need to.

I'm so sorry for your loss,i have been through this myself although only with one piggy so its nothing compared to five,I'm sending all our love your way today, xxxxxxxxx

sorry but thats rather cruel its nature for a ferret to kill animals like mice,he shouldnt be punished as he doesnt understand:(

He isn't being punished per se he is just living in the garden shed now instead of inside. I don't see how you can say keeping a ferret in the shed free roaming, with quilts, toys and food everyday is cruel, no offence but it's not cruel...I'm just refusing to forgive him, so he won't be allowed back inside.

We are ging to bury them today when I get back from work. Really didnt get any sleep last night, I just feel so so crushed and still cant stop crying. I really dont know how I'm going to cope with work as I work at a vets as a recepionist.
Will bury them in a cosy blanket all together as they didnt like being on there own.
Thank you again for all your kind words it dose help to know you guys are thinking about my girls x

Waxirose89.. Please forgive your ferrit as its just natural for them to behave like this. I have forgiven my friend and his dog and if I can do that you can also.

i really think you should forgive him,he doesnt understand what he has done, living outside would be a big change for him especially since he is used to indoors,
if you dont forgive him then how can you possibly love him unconditionally?
animals need your love/trust and forgivness xx

I think its a good thing to bury them together, being together is what piggies love most so you are honouring there wishes,
It wont be easy going back to work and seeing all the animals but just remember the good times you had with your piggies and know that this most certainly was a very freak accident,
piggy cuddles seem to be the best way at healing a broken heart, many hugs sent from the boys and i x

how sad

Rather than leave the ferret is a shed when it really wasnt his fault couldnt you find a new home for him I feel sad for him:0

I'm so sorry for your losses, what an awful thing to happen. It must have taken a lot of strength from you to forgive your partners friend and his dog - despite the fact that no-one could have predicted the dogs reaction, it must have been hard for you to put your feelings aside after what happened, especially as grief can make us so irrational.
You are not to blame for what happened to your five piggies, so please don't think that any of us on here think ill of you at all. It was a horribly freak accident that could not have been foreseen. We're all here to support you and to listen to you. I know that if I was you I wouldn't have been able to forgive the friend for bringing his dog into the vicinty of guinea pigs, although I'm sure he will have meant no harm. But you really have been strong and brave to forgive him. Well done you xxxxx
Your piggies are having fun at the Rainbow Bridge right now, all popcorning around together! I'm glad that Malcolm has some new friends to keep him company.
Thinking of you
Catherine x

Oh Mary. How sad :( You are so devoted to your animals this is in no way your fault. It's a terrible tragedy and my thoughts are with you honey.
