5 of my piggies have been killed

I am sooo soooo sorry for your loss. Do not blame yourself, you weren't to know whether that dog was going to kill/hurt your pigs. I am abit angry at that dog.
Ask your friend if they are going to come to your house again, tell them to leave the dog at home before it kills your other pigs
 
Mary, you didn't invite the dog to do what it did, so there is no way whatsoever anybody on this forum can say it was your fault at all. The dog did what some dogs naturally do; the lower half of the door was shut which in many cases would have been enough. You looked after your pigs, including these five girls, wonderfully. You loved, protected and cherished them; it is nothing more than absolutely rotten luck and a horrible turn of events that this happened. Please try not to blame yourself - easier said than done, but please do recognise that you were not at fault.

I'm so sorry for your losses. I can't begin to imagine how horrible it must have been for you. RIP sweet little ones.

aww hunni sincerest sympathies, as you know I have recently lost my two to my dog :( its the worst feeling in the world, if you need to chat you know where I am xx
 
So sorry for your loss... it must be dreadful but huge credit to you for being strong enough to forgive your neighbour and the dog. Just don't blame yourself instead - don't let it eat you up. You obviously care for your animals and it just wasn't your fault.

Mark has just burried them for me in our garden. I have them wrapped in a pink towel all huddled together with little Mouse in the middle. I brought a lovely basket of hyacinthus bulbs that should flower soon. I have had a very hard day today, oneminute I am ok and the next I am in tears. Bessie had the most perfect piggie lips, miss them all so much. But you guys are helping so much with your kind words, thank you x

I only wish our words could turn back time for you! you will in time be able to think back at all the lovely memories and smile. Till then cuddle your remaining piggies and let them lift your spirits.

That's what it was, an accident, something you could not have foreseen to happen, so do NOT beat yourself up about it as you did nothing wrong.

I have only just caught up with your thread Mary, I am so very sorry to hear about your girls.8...

As everyone has said, this was just a very tragic accident, something you could not have foreseen. As Laura pointed out, for many a dog, having the bottom half of the door shut would have been enough of a deterent.

I hope your gorgeous boy settles in with his new friends. Sleep well little piggies.

He will be forgiven I just need time, it is just fresh and hurts in my heart so much because I loved those little mice with all my soul and they did not deserve what they got.

Edit: he's only in the garden shed a few nights while I come to terms with the loss, he has one of our double duvets, plenty of food and water. You must understand it is hard for me to look at him right now because to me he is a murderer and I won't quickly forget the bloody sight I saw, I am very sensitive to these things.
