I would normally be at work but I am sat here bored stiff recovering from being sedated to have 2 teeth out this morning. I'm not aloud to lift anything, drive anywhere, do anything in fact and I am bored ::)
 
Yes thanks, eyes managing to stay open at long last! ;) Just need to get rid of this damn chest infection!
 
Blinkin eck! what a load of sickies we are...i've just been diagnosed with mild arthoritus -can't even spell it! No wonder I get stuck on the floor sometimes & can't get up. The chiro said that if I'm sensible - yeah right - I can keep it at the stage it is at now. I just laughed & he said you seem to be coping well with finding out. I said you could tell me I'm an alien & I wouldn't bat an eyelid today!
 
Thanks! When you've had the word cancer thrown at you this doesn't seem so daunting. Only thing is that they can remove cancer...it'll be (yet another) kick up the bum to take care of myself. My late aunt started getting ill at my age (28) & died age 54 I think. I did start to get a bit freaked last year when the coincidences started to get a bit too much. We even share the same birthday! :o she had loads of little cancer things then Arthuritus (I really must look in the dictionary - I can see its not spelt right!), various other little nasties & Hodgkinsons finally finished her off.
The past 4 generations on my mums side there have been 2 girls & the oldest always copped the ill health. Guess what my sister is 6 years younger. I won't go down without a song & a dance though...More like a rum & coke shouting boy that was one hell of a ride!

sorry to hear about your arthirtis Hils I had it diagnoised when in my early 30s its now in my back wrists hands and feet and its a nasty dieseas I have chronic degenerative osteo arthritis my knuckels are swollen with over grown bone spurs and my left wrist has a hugh lump of bone thats arthritic and have to wear a splint a lot, the pain get me down big time and I have to take amatriptiline as well as cream etc my big toes are now fused so they dont bend which makes walking first thing in mornings or after rest difficult and painful, fingers crossed you can keep it at the stage it is now, I hit the big 40 and my health got terrible to the point of being in pain every day as well as constantly tired from one thing or another ,

All the things you have mentioned Michelle such as being stiff in the morning (snigger - feeling v childish today sorry!), I have been having since I had my daughter, I just put it down to the Relaxin hormone never leaving my body. In the mornings I regularly fall down the stairs ::) well thats probably an exaggeration slip down a few steps because my legs & back don't seem to work - just thought I haven't woken up properly & if I'm sitting on the floor sometimes I find it hard to get up.
Its apparantly setting in my lower spine. I hate to say it but I think I take after my dad - he is as fit as a fiddle & strong as an ox but because of this he has lifted some stupid things in his life. He's had an op on his spine about 25 years ago because of general wear & tear. Earlier last year he actually lifted the rear end of a Ford Ka so workmen could get to the drain the car was parked over :o

As a result I've always been encouraged to lift silly weights - I think the most being a 70kg sack of unroasted coffee beans!
I'm strong but forget I can (&obviously have) damage myself. But I'm only little. Over xmas I have thakfully put on weight taking me up to 8 1/2 stone. Its going to be a shock not saying I'll lift the other end. But I'm still going to do backflips on the trampoline!

I'm going to look into some natural remedies for Arthritis (thanks Lucinda!) & see what i can do to prevent it getting too bad - will let you know Michelle.
 
Think we need to re-name this thread - Flaming Arthritis. I sympathise with you all about this. Went to Dr about 3 yrs ago about pain in my big toe joints & he said it could be arthritis, I said to him I'm only 35, aren't I too young to have that (yeah right!). He said 'no'. I couldn't believe it, I thought only old people got it. I had x-rays & they confirmed it's rheumotoid arthritis, not sure what the difference is between that & osteo (and not sure I want to know). They don't bend properly and are painful in certain shoes (like unsensible ones) but I can walk fairly long distance OK (at the mo.). Sometimes I get my husband to move them back & forward, it should be agony but somehow it's not & feels good. My finger knuckles also swell in the winter but haven't been too bad this year, maybe the only good thing about climate change? :-\

Anyway, it's certainly not as bad as some of you on here, so really sorry to hear about it. Does it help to be in sunnier climate do you think.
 
Not sure? I bet it is better when its warmer because the cold naturally makes you feel achy. To be honest I can't really feel much at the moment - infact I feel quite good because I haven't lifted anything for a couple of days so i can't comment. To be honest i wouldn't know what back pain was me over doing it or the Arthritis.
