6 month old with heart failure any one advise?

It’s funny she was better when she was on the anti inflammatory medication ( when they were saying it could of been and infection) I might start it again and see what happens ! It can’t do any harm ? Surely !

It called meloxaid ?

I just Googled Meloxaid and it contains Meloxicam so it sounds very similar to Metacam. It could help her, if her airways are inflammed.

She looks like she's quite short nosed, so it could be a genetic issue that's causing the difficulty breathing. She's a gorgeous girl

My Tim has narrow airways aswell as a heart issue and Metacam helps him, along with steam or nebulising when needed.

Bless her, she is so pretty. Definitely looks like breathing is a struggle for her. I hope the specialist can help and prescribe the heart meds if needed.

Well was a good appointment today. I ariived and there was 4 other piggies waiting to see the vet! Judith brown at forest hall. She is supposed to be brilliant with piggies. So she gave her a good going over! The fluid has gone from her lungs and her heart sounded strong she said most of the noises were upper nasal type sounds and her breathing was still the same. So she has decided to stop the baytril and start on a different antibiotic septrin for one week (then review) she has given me a powder that loosens secretions called bislvon and the frusemide 5mg twice daily to continue... she said she would consider heart medication but wanted to explore other things first ! As her heart sounded strong.

So on what people have said on this thread I have restarted the anti inflammatory once a day too so I’ll see how things go I am praying things will turn a corner’

And total bad timing her cage mate has come in season and is chasing her off the food and trying to pounce on her all the time :o(((

Bisolvon is good stuff, so if it is all nasal it should help.

Know exactly what you mean about bad timing. One of mine had an abscess behind her eye and it was bulging, so the night before her op, Ophelia comes into season and spends the whole night humping her head. I hope things subside soon, poor thing.

You have to laugh at them! They have funny personalities I got these for my twin girls who are 6 and Ive totally took over ! :o)) they so lush! But your poor little piggie ! But I know exactly what you mean :o))

Well ....... seen a dramatic improvement today ! Day 4 of the new antibiotics (septrin), the bisolvon and I’ve re-introduced the anti inflammatory ! ( she also continues on diuretics )

She still has a clicky noise in her nose but the heavy breathing has settled

She is gaining about 8g a day too ! We have a review appointment on Tuesday!

So I don’t know what has worked ! I have a feeling it is the anti inflammatory as the fluid had gone from her lungs last Wednesday and the laboured breathing persisted ! Any one any ideas! Maybe she has something wrong with her nasal passages as suggested on this post ?

She has been on antibiotics a months now so surely an infection would be long gone?

That's wonderful news. If it is an infection, it may be it was resistant to whatever antibiotic she was on before. Or it could be the Bisolvon and anti-inflammatory that is helping. I have noticed a vast difference in my Tim too now he is on the anti-inflammatory. He does have a heart murmur but I think a lot of his breathing issues have been to do with his narrow nasal passages.
