My little guys are 6 months old tomorrow!

Do things need to change food wise and what should I expect behaviour wise? (obviously I know they aren't going to turn into monsters on their birthday but was just wondering for the future!) :<>

aww! six months! the only thing i can think of is stop any alpahpa in the diet, or at least cut it right down! i remember that age, right back in august 2008 with pheobe and ruby, november 2008 with bethany and maggie-may and march 2009 for sonny. sooo lovely!

You can start slowly cutting down on pellets (if you are giving unlimited pellets), as their growth rate will start to slow down over the next few months. Most guinea pigs will stop growing anywhere between 12-15 months.

Thanks!

I am currently giving them muesli, does this need cutting down as nuggets would?

yeah, it does. could you wean them onto pellets? trust me, you chuck away less with pellets and you know they're getting a balanced diet with every mouthful!

I will probably have to change to nuggets then because they do waste a lot and it ends up all over the floor! grrrr :(|)

It is annoying in my local pet shops, they do nuggets for bunnies but not piggies and P@H is miles away from me! :0

Ask your local pet shop if they will order in nugets for you.

The time does fly soooo fast.:(|)

Growth slow down! Try telling our lot!
Our Harry and Junior are 8 and 7 months respectively and Harry is already 1.25kg of pure muscle. Goodness knows how big they will be by the time they are 12m old! Poor Monty and Arthur are being left behind (they are at least one year old); Little Arthur is barely 1kg!
