I've just weighed my piggies and Edward has gained 60g in a week. I always weigh them at the same time. Edward isn't a young growing piggy, he's nearly 6 and a half! He has been steadily losing weight for the last year or so, he's been vet checked and she put it down to his age and he settled around 885g from 1100g. For the last few weeks, he's been slowly gaining and is now 990g which is 60g more than this time last week. He doesn't feel bloated at all but should I be concerned about his sudden weight gain?

It's always worth a vet check if you are worried. It's probably nothing and i am not a health expert but from my experience with Georgie it could be water retention caused by a heart problem in an elderly piggy. This can be treated with drugs.

Of course he could have just been eating lots of yummy food.

Thank you. If he gains again next week, I will schedule him a vets appointment. Hopefully it’s food related
