I transferred £700 into my savings account yesterday with the mentality of it being fall back for the summer if I run out of money in my normal account, however I've got the feeling I'm just going to continue to add to it and use it as an 'Emergenct Vet fund' account just in case the piggies or other critters need treatment!

Fingers crossed it can actually be saved though! The money that gets spent on these pigs is crazy

Well done for being prepared. Hopefully, you won't need to spend the money on vet bills and it can accrue some interest.

I put £20 a month into a savings account for mine to cover any big bills for ops etc.

For consultations & routine meds I just pay as I go & last month was the first month in a year that I had no vet fees. Unfortunately I've had one visit already this month but it's only £13.50 so that won't break the bank.

I've had a bit of a record with mine for a while, no vets in about 7 months I believe! Fingers crossed it stays that way! I'm considering also cancelling my elderly cats insurance as I've not claimed in the years I've had it and they're ramping the price up crazy amounts now that she's getting on, considering putting the money into the savings instead.

@Stewybus I hope you don't have anymore visits, both for your piggies and your bank account! And @PiggieOwner fingers crossed, although I think the interest is pretty poor for a savings account :P

That's very good. I should have put their money in Royal Mail shares.

It was Minky with different things happening since last May costing over £800 in vets fees alone. Until she was 2 she'd only been for a couple of check-ups. She's now almost 3.

I've spent no end of money at the vets with my current three :( The oldest one about £1800 so far, the youngest has had an op as well, so that's another £250 plus the third one has cost £450 last month for op, x ray etc luckily she is covered by insurance, but since that she has had 2 vet visits in the past week for UTI & cystic ovary jab not covered by insurance which was another £50 including antibiotics. The oldest one costs me £14 a month at the vets as she has ongoing bladder issues. I basically work to pay the vet bills, I never actually spend any on myself lol :)

I'm not saying anything because it will mean that what I have saved will vanish. Well done to everyone who has saved!
