Hello i am considering some 8 week old boars, what is the best pellets to give them? I read in the care guide Alfalfa based. With 3 choices on the chart but the only one i can seem to find is the science selective alfalfa meal based one. Are the any others or is this the best option..

Many thanks

They do not need alfalfa once they are past weaning age (3 weeks old). The young piggy pellets containing alfalfa are a bit of a marketing gimmick as piggies can eat the normal grass based ‘adult’ pellets from birth.
If you do choose to give alfalfa based pellets to youngsters (which most of us will never choose to do - we all feed our piggies grass based and avoid alfalfa) then they really need to be off of them by the time they are 16 weeks old so whichever you buy, don’t buy a big bag. They only have one tablespoon per day which can take months to get through.

Science selective grain free (non alfalfa based) are well recommended as a commercial brand.
Piggie parcels is a company run by a member of this forum. Her pellets are also well recommended and are grass based but the benefit is they do not contain any of the commercial fillers. Personally the piggie parcels is what I would go for (I hardly ever feed pellets to mine though!)
