I feed my GPS on pets a home pellets. But my new, 8wk old pig wont eat it. She won't touch the stuff. Today I tried her on muesli and she loved it. But I don't want to feed them on muesli because of selected eating worry's me. Is it worth trying her on some different pellet ? Has anyone else had the same problem with one of their pigs.

Is your little one on her own or living with other piggies? If she is with others (especially older piggies), she will soon learn to eat what they eat; it takes a bit of patience, but it is worth sitting it out. She won't come to any harm as long as she has constant access to unlimited hay.

She's living with a 1yr old bout. She not been putting on weight, well very little. Only 20g in 2 weeks.

Could you mix pellets and muesli and very slowly up the amount of pellets in the mix? Also feed them rather in several smaller portions than once a day in a big bowl.

Do you know what she was fed before you got her. Mine were on pets@home own stuff but i gradually moved them on to science selective which they love x

I was told she was on pets at home too. That's why I'm confused.

Little ones can be rather tentative in what they are eating at first, but they tend to catch up once they have settled in and got their bearings. As long as your baby is still putting on weight, I would not worry too much. Depending on how long he has been in shop, he's not had the time to get used to pellets; it is likely he's been on a cheap muesli mix on the rodent farm on the Continent he's been imported from.

Having some issues here too. Trying to introduce pellets to my baby girlies by mixing with museli...and all the museli being eaten and the pellets left.
They have plenty of fresh hay and salad twice a day so do I just sit out the pellets till they eat it all or top up with more museli and pellets...giving them more museli seems to defeat the object .. id like them eating the pellets.

If the soft option doesn't work, you can go cold turkey - it took about three weeks with one determined old lady of mine!

If they are very young (under 4 months old), you could add a handful of alfalfa hay to their normal hay in the meantime and feed an extra sprig of fresh coriander/cilantro to each piggy daily. That will take care of the sightly higher need of calcium and protein (in alfalfa) and vitamin C that young and fast growing piggies have until they get these things in the pellets (which are mostly alfalfa based). The extra amounts are very small so don't panic; babies are still doing perfectly fine even on just a normal diet!
