Hey guys, need some advice!

I've got two 9 month boars at home and I brought them as a pair last October as they were originally housed together. Up until last night, they were getting on fine but they began fighting last night. The fighting started when I put one back into the cage with the other as this particular one had been playing up and was being naughty and was annoying the other one. The fighting consisted of teeth chattering, rumbling towards each other and getting up onto their hind legs.

What's going on? They are never normally like this.

Thanks :)

Hi! Your two boars are in the middle of the teenage months and in the phase where pushing the limits is typical.
Please always re-introduce separated boars on neutral ground. Boars at this age can be extremely territorial and that can increase any aggression and the likelihood of a fight.
It is likely that your two boys may not go back together after a serious fight with bites.

Please take the time to read this very detailed guide, which will give you information on the stages of the teenage months, what you can do minimise the risk of fights, how to check whether a bond is working or not, how re-introduce boars after a temporary separation and what your options are if your boars are among those that do not make it as a pair to a hormonally more settled adulthood.
Boars: Teenage, Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?

Have they drawn blood?:( If not, I would just find a bigger area with none of their own smells so they can figure out who is the boss.
The 9 month boars are at that age where they are in their teenage months.
How big is the cage? It might be because the cage is too small?.. Either way, find a bigger area with only food to let them be territorial, teeth chattering, rumble strutting and all that other stuff is normal, just leave them be and they should figure it out on their own. But, if they draw blood, that's when you get in there and break it up.
Hopefully this helps! :luv:
