A bit of a dilemma. What to do about Bramble....

Bramble has grown a very impressive skirt. She keeps it lovely and tangle free on top. Its the underskirt I'm not sure what to do with....

Bramble gets groomed every two days. Now she is a bit less wild, I can groom her underskirt. Its lovely and full of curls but it also picks up a lot of hay and other general detritus. It's never wet with wee. It gets quite matted with loose hair and generally. This morning I had to cut out a HUGE matt. She isn't keen on me getting the comb on her underskirt whenever I start it's like she's saying "wtf are you doing Slave that is very ouchy!" and she gets very jumpy. There is so much loose hair that I comb out which I'm sure is a contributing factor for the matts. Now the question is this: Do I cut off all of her beautiful skirt? (I so don't want to do this), just cut off her beautiful curly underskirt? (I don't want to do this as it is lovely) or keep carrying on grooming her underskirt? (don't want to do this as it causes her pain). A bum bath is out of the question as she is still a bit wild for this and I think it will traumatise her and she is only just starting to trust me.

Any advice will be very helpful and will be considered.
 
I used so cut peppers curly trousers but leave a layer on top to protect his modestly, thankfully peppers fur never matted and we could get away with weekly combs but if she really hates it I’d be inclined to take out the underskirt, as lovely as it does sound
 
Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll cut the underskirt. It may take a few attempts as she's not gonna sit quietly like The Ever Beautiful Betsy did. I have to groom her on my lap/on my chest/between the arm of the chair and my lap as Bramble has attempted an escape mission .... If I put her in a hidey to attempt to cut of her underskirt she'd just run through it and out the other side. She's only 10 months old and very quick still.
 
I cut Timmy's underneath holding him with one hand against my chest, it's awkward cutting him looking almost upside down but the only way I can keep him still. The top layer I do in the bath on an old towel holding him still with one hand as he has a habit of trying to run off and I can see him doing a blind jump.
 
Spice is the one that has very long hair,she gets an under carriage cut a couple times in summer, and gets de-knoted as and when needed. It's a 2 person job.

Thanks for the offer of help, but she won't be going anywhere in anyone's handbag extra large or not! You will be most welcome to visit them but all bags WILL be checked on exit.

Maybe I'll have to read it again to remind myself what to do! I haven't trimmed a piggy since the demise of The Ever Beautiful Betsy 18 months ago. I'll start tomorrow morning. Wish me luck. She's very wriggly!

I’m having to catch and medicate Hazel at the moment. She’s extremely feisty, wriggly and uncooperative, too!
 
In the end I cut off all of Brambles skirt :bye: as it had become so badly matted in 2 days it was causing her pain trying to comb it out. Now that it has been cut off, I can see a little bit of dark fur on her botty. She wouldn't let me take a picture of it, obviously, as I had taken away her skirt and some of her fluffy trousers so she wasn't letting me anywhere near her rear end again.
