What's the 'sucess' rate with people on here?
And how would I go about it?

Its just a consideration ATM!
Nothing definate!

Depends how you look at it i think. The generall success rate of anyone who has ever had 3 boars living together, will be fairly low, however the sucess rate of people who have carefully planned for, and chosen a trio for character compatability, will be higher :)

I *think* suzy has an already bonded male trio up for adoption at the moment, that would be my suggested route, as the bonding bit would be the hardest :)

I'm looking at adding one to my two...
Jerome can be a little bully sometimes and often see Barney running away from him :(
Thought it may 'settle' Jerome down

Honestly? Its unlikely too. Every trio I have heard of consists of 3 veryyy relaxed males. I did quite a bit of research into trios when i was thinking of adding one to my pair, and even though it turns out my two are very relaxed, I am in hind sight glad i didnt.

How old are your two?

I really would not recommend this and do not think it will help your boars at all. I expect they would all just fight each other.

theyre ten months old, and they're brothers.
Jerome is HUGE compared to Barney...

By the sounds of that it could make jerome worse as it'll be another male to challenge his status.
This is also why trios often fail because unless you get the personalities just right the fight to be top pig is too much and they can all end up falling out and you can end up with 3 lone boars. Personally I would leave well alone or if there is serious bullying then separate your current two and take them both dating for new friends :)

Is Barney still putting on weight? I have two "brothers" and one is very much bigger than the other.

They are also still in their hormonal months, it may very well all calm down yet :)

yeah Barney is still putting on weight...last week he was 850g.
Jerome is a whopping 980g!

My boys are aprox 100g different in weight... they have been since i got them when they were 450g and 550g(ish) I think nothing of it. I would definatly wait a couple more months for them to calm down, and then think of your options if they are still the same :)

10 months is definately a difficult age to think about adding another boar. I'd leave it til they were maybe 18 months and settled down a bit before even thinking about it but again like Connie said, personalities need to be right for any trio to work.

I let my 4 boars have floor time together which they love but there's no way I would house them together (they live in two pairs) as it's be a really bad idea. When they've got the whole living room with multiple food bowls/hidey corners they're fine but not in a smaller space.

Space is the key with boars as they need to be able to spread out and not keep having 'issues' over territory.

I think I may look into getting another pair...and do what you do, keep the living seperate, but let them have play time together.

Keep them separate - they will otherwise have to go through the whole introduction/dominance business every time they meet, and it could lead to fights and fall outs.

Boars are definitely best in pairs. Most people I know that have successful trios or even very, very rarely a stable quartet, tend to have lots of boars and have been doing quite bit of shuffling around until they achieved a stable bond. Generally these stables bonds are mostly made up of adult boars with settled hormones and a rather laid back disposition.
