Nerys' bereaved companion Nesta has over the last 10 days made firm friends with her male teddy counterpart Victor Meldrew (after the grumpy old man in the comedy series One Foot In The Grave), equally bereaved, lonely and unhappy, but sharing the same hobby of teeth chattering at any other piggies - which doesn't help to endear either of them to other piggies (and that is a fair number of them in either home!)...

There has been not a single teeth chatter through the bars, but as much interaction as two scaredy cat grumpy teddies can get up to. Both are usually not far from the divider even though they have the option of a cosy at the far end. Nesta has even got as far as a tiny popcorn hop, which is about as excited as she ever gets!
A full introduction on the lawn has so far not been a success (but not a total disaster, either) and it may never fully work in view of their considerable hang-ups, but they did spent the whole evening afterwards sat and sleeping together by the divider busy explaining their mutual feelings to each other! In view of that, Victor's owner and I have decided that Victor is going to stay on as a next door companion and permanent guest.

With his owner's permission Victor has got a Welsh Tribe name; he is now Nosgan "Nightsong" Victor, as I can usually hear him, but not see him with his black coat and his skittish dives into a cosy whenever humans are around!

This is the two of them having a pellet snack together after their meeting on the lawn.

Nesta has taken to regularly sleeping with her bum stuck right in Nosgan's face, the little tease - on the lawn she wouldn't let him near it! :mal:

This is such a sweet, happy story (despite the teeth chattering and refusal to allow bum sniffing!).
Frankly Miss Nesta sounds like a very discerning and distinguished lady to me.

I'm so happy they've found mutual contentment in one another!

My two teddy boys are so grumpy, constantly chattering and whining (which almost never stops) with plenty of barging each other out the way and nipping. While we do understand one another, they are such scared cats. It's good to know it's not just them! Any tips for bonding (pig-pig and pig-human) with teddies ;)?

I always say that Tubs should have been born Abyssinian... he does the "Abby sniff" and everything.
