I adopted Ted, my first guinea pig, when he was about 6 months old after a family bereavement. At first he was very scared of everyone, but gradually he came out of his shell and became the biggest character. He loved carrots, grass and head strokes, as well as complaining at his neighbour Dougal like a little grumpy old man.

Sadly he went down hill over the past few weeks with suspected cancer. Yesterday morning, the day after I submitted my undergraduate thesis, he was no longer able to walk. It was like he hung on until I was done. So today I had to make the decision to help him over the bridge. While I am heartbroken, especially as I couldn't be in the room with the Covid-19 situation, I know it was his time.

Thank you Ted for introducing me to my love of all things guinea pig (and eventually converting my husband too!). You are very loved by us all.

I am sorry to hear of Ted's passing over the Rainbow Bridge. He would have sensed how much you loved him and gave him a good life but they always leave a piggy shaped hole in your heart. Sleep tight little piggy.xx
