Can I give my piggy a blanket?
I know this is a stupid question but she throws her bedding all lover the place!:^-
The reason I'm asking is that I know piggies are rodents, I have a hamster and hamsters chew EVERYTHING... will Bailey?!
I will obviously get a pet-safe one from P@H...

Can I get her a heat pad from P@H? Are they safe (obviously at the right temp as well)?

What's a vet bed?
It sounds great but I don't quite know what it is/does to be honest!

Thank youuuu xx

Lots of members use good quality fleece over newspaper and old towels in their guineas cage and it is perfectly acceptable. Some guineas will tunnel under it though! I use vetbed which is like a thick furry blanket, the one I have has a rubber backing so it stays in place. I put newspaper underneath it.
The wee wicks down through the vetbed to the paper and the vetbed stays dry. I change mine twice a week, brush poops up etc every day.

I still have a divided hay area for them but others put hay in boxes or hay racks as they must have unlimited hay.

I got my vetbed from ebay seller `fireinvestigationdog`but lots sell it on there. Pro fleece is quite good too but it is wise to spend a little more to get a good one. If you think fleece will be bette, try `polar fleece` in ebay or I think ikea does nice ones, as do www.hammockyhammocks.co.uk

Mine have the heat pads, I think they are called snuggle safe, they are great also have you tried something like a cuddle cup (they are sort of like a fleecy pillowcase) 'scuse my daft description I'm sure someone will be able to tell you a brand name, but mine and I know alot of the other piggies on here love them as they can snuggle right down in them. Sxx

Thank you so much, I searched the seller on ebay and as soon as I get my money (THIS WEEK!:)) I will get one of those VetBeds, I like the pink one and so will Bailey! haha...
I will pop down to Woking P@H and get a heat pad too!

By the way lavenderjade, is that your guinea? He/She is beautiful!

xx

I want 10 piggies! lol :))
Bailey wee'd on me for the first time today, she's never weed or poop'd on me before.
I feel like an idiot because she made a new noise which I didn't recognise,
I should have known! :( I put her straight in her cage, bless her I felt so bad!

You will recognise it next time dont feel bad. Some of mine nibble me when they need to go back for a wee but the boys just wee on me and dont care!

i use vetbed but consider the chocolate colour one! I have chocolate and it hides poos well! I do clean out poos everyday but still they can get to millions before the day is out! :)) you should think of having a corner litter tray if planning a hay rack that way most of it doesn't go on the vet bed as can be hard to get off and hay is not good for your washing machine!

I have one from P@h i think it is a nora something (the smallest one) although I got another which was identical from a local pet shop for £2 cheaper so it's good to shop around! I fill my litter tray with woodbased cat litter from homebargains which is £1.30 for 5 litres! P@h do something very simular which they call small animal wood litter pellets which is a lot more expensive!

Other people use carefresh in their litter trays which is another bedding available at pets@home which I think maybe reasonably priced!

Briony... thank you for all the info, that's really helpful!
I had a litter tray for Bailey but she didn't use it so took it away,
How can I make her use it...
Shall I put a few poops and wee in it so she gets the idea?
Can I find homebargains on the net?

Chocolate coloured for the poop...
I like that idea, pink is so tempting though, LOL!

Ahh I have a hay rack, that'll come in handy :))

I think i need to get a litter tray or something cos they pull all of their hay out of the rack and its a to get off! Other than puttin a litter tray underneath it do people have any other suggestions?
