Hi all - today we lost our Peachy very unexpectedly. Ive yet to tell my daughter - she will be so upset.

Has anyone got some nice ideas of how we can say goodbye. I think i saw someone had placed their piggie in a pot and planted a memorial plant on top to remember them by? Or do people suggest a buriel in the garden in a box.... any advice gratefully received.

I am very sorry for your loss! A sudden unexpected death is always such a horrible shock. :(

You may find this link here helpful - it contains grieving advice, how to tell children (different ages) and work with them through the loss of a pet/death as well as tips on pet burials/memorials etc. with further links: Human Bereavement - Grieving, coping tips and support links for guinea pig owners and their children

I am so sorry for your loss...

When we lost Gladys we wrapped her in her favourite blanket and found a nice spot for her in the garden to bury her.

All the best with breaking the news to your daughter x

So very sorry for your loss.
Do check the link @Wiebke has highlighted as there are some excellent resources listed to help children (and adults) grieve.

Please feel free to post a tribute to Peachy on the Rainbow Bridge thread.

I know several members have created some lovely memorials for their piggies- I remember one @HeatherRose did for one of her piggies.

Look after yourselves as you grieve

So very very sorry for the loss of your little one xx

Thank you all for your wishes and advice. Daughter has cried all evening and had a good long hug with Peachy, then a long hug with our other two..... we will miss her lots - she was a wonderful piggy... thank you all again - ill help my daughter to do a memorial post tomorrow... xx

I'm really sorry for your loss... it's so hard, especially with kids. We have typically buried out pigs in the yard and said a few words about them... we also have an area on top of the desk in our family room where we place a picture of all the pets that are gone but still remembered. So we will do a little memorial and add a picture to the others. And we always remember them and will talk about them fondly.
