I've just got back from taking Boris to Millhaven Rescue for his piggy dating session. I'm absolutely thrilled to report that he bonded with date no.2, a gorgeous little black boar called Frisbee. I've got them settled in and am leaving them to it for now because Fris is very very shy at the moment. I'm just so happy that B has a friend to play with after 3 months on his own :yahoo:and I'm hoping it all works out.

Oh what wonderful news! I am very happy for Boris to have found a friend and for Fris to have found a home.

Great news! Finding the right mate is what dating at a rescue is all about, and it can take more than one candidate! Wishing your boar pair all the best! Hopefully you can post some pictures soon!

Oh I love a happy ending. Well done Boris and Frisbee, here's to a happy life together

So, Day One dawned and it was clear they've been having altercations - there was stuff everywhere and Boris had clearly been bitten on the nose. Watching them, it seems that Boris is definitely going for Top Pig status and just wants to hump Frisbee all the time whereas Fris just wants to hide in his tunnel cos he's terrified of everything. I think Fris probably had enough of Boris's persistence and lashed out.
Lots of 'behaviour' happening this morning and then about mid morning I heard really angry squeaking and saw them launch themselves at each other. I rushed in and picked Boris up with a towel. I managed to wedge a strong piece of cardboard into the cage so they had half each, plus a hidey, a pile of hay some grass, dandelions and carrots each so they could both calm down. I rang the rescue centre and Joanne was very reassuring, said I'd done all the right things and that this could be a difficult bonding because they're both teenagers (4 and 5 months) but to take the divider out after ten minutes and keep an eye on them.
Took the divider out and Boris immediately went to find Frisbee, who really wasn't in the mood and after a bit Boris went and sulked in his hidey - possibly Fris had gone for his sore nose again.
It's all very quiet in there now, both in their hideys.
It's been quite distressing to witness all this, and there's probably plenty more to come, but it's great to be able to share it and find out so much on this forum.

How's it going now?
Hi Tewdric :) For the last day and a half they've been mostly in their respective hideys at each end of the cage, being completely quiet - Fris because he's terrified to come out and Boris because I think he feels sorry for himself. However, Frisbee did spend some time chasing Boris round the cage yesterday evening (when he didn't realise I was watching) and I think he was giving Boris nips.
It's a strange situation, because Boris isn't the piggy I knew up to now - he's very subdued and doesn't start wheeking when I come in the door any more, or any of the happy things he used to do. I think Frisbee may be getting the upper hand.
I've just been to P@H and bought a couple of new things for the cage plus some piggy shampoo. I was wondering about a bonding bath, but Frisbee's so skittish and easily spooked (he's like a little rocket), it may not be a wise idea!
I just hope it all gets better...
