Took Boris to the vet to be checked out for lice, while being examined they found what they think is a big tumour. He's having an X-ray with a whiff of gas, but if it's as bad as they think they won't be waking him uP. Waiting for the phone call. I left patch there with him so at least he has his BFF with him. I'm so sad, and it's so unexpected.

I'm so sorry to hear this. This is the downside to having Guinea Pigs. My thoughts are with you.

oh Poor you & Boris i hope he gets on ok & they find its just an abscess, sebacious cyst, fatty lump or a benign tumour or anything easily treatable. where is the lump on him?

fingers & paws all crossed for good news & a speedy recovery.
big hug for you. x

I am so sorry; it is always awful when something like this happens. It may well be that the lice are a sign that the tumour has been lowering the immune system.

My thoughts are with you!

Have everything crossed for poor Boris. It's such a shock when something unexpected is found. Hugs to you too x

Thanks for the kindness, everyone, sadly it was cancer, two big tumours. Boris was put to sleep. :(

Thankfully they think it was a fast growing cancer, so very short time between him being fine and not, so he won't have suffered too much.

Poor Patch hasn't been back inside the pigloo they shared. He's sleeping on the hay in the corner of his house.

Can't believe my little Boris has gone. :(

They showed me the X-ray, there was really nothing that could be done, two tumours, one pressing up against his spine and one pushing his bowels to one side. They were big, but right inside where you just wouldn't find them unless you were examining him. :(

oh no! i am so sorry to hear about poor Boris :bye:
at least he didn't suffer & you had no way of knowing. big hug for you & poor Patch, did they show him his friend had passed so that he can grieve?
if he gets lonely you could put a babies soft toy in long with him to snuggle up to for comfort that may help him?

heres a little guide to help bereaved pigs if Patch should need it.
