Adult Guinea Pig
This handsome chap is 'Roger Rabbit'. He arrived this week as due to personal reasons his owner could no longer keep him. He unfortunately has teeth issues - his teeth need trimming every 4-6 weeks and apparently he absolutely panics and is terrified.
He's spent the day with my vet having his front teeth removed and was also neutered at the same time - seemed silly to risk 2 anesthetics so my vet agreed to do both today.
I've been pondering on how to go about getting a husband for Muppet (she had her teeth removed 7 weeks ago). A neutered male bunny with 'normal' teeth was not really an option as he would be able to eat much faster than Muppet and would probably eat most of her food.
Roger seems to be the perfect solution - both will be able to eat normal food but will eat at the same speed and they will both need their fresh food grated or shredded very finely.
After a rather anxious afternoon - Roger was very slow to come round from the anesthetic - he now appears to be a bit happier. Here he is just a short time ago nice and comfy on a binkie cushion from Pollie, eating some grated apple. The rather strange 'person' sharing his cage is 'Ermentrude' his 'companion'
He apparently is extremely fond of her and often washes her and snuggles up with her - hoping he'll be happy to transfer his affections to Muppet or at least be prepared to share Ermentrude with her !
Really hope this will be a happy ending for both of them
