Hi everyone!

I wondered if anyone knows anywhere in Manchester (or the area) that is a
Guinea Pig rehoming centre of sorts? A proper one or a centre that just has
them available?
Preferably a knowledgable one, about Guinea Pigs :)

I am looking to give an unfortunate soul (or 2!) a new home, but I am not
sure of places around here as I am new up here. :)

Any help appreciated guys,

Thanks :D

Hi and welcome!

Great that you want to go rescue!

Here is our Piggy Bank volunteer rescue support map of recommended guinea pig rescues. All these rescues rehome only healthy, properly sexed and bonded guinea pigs and offer support and advice not only during the settling in period but throughout the whole life of their piggies.

There is sadly no recommendable rescue in Manchester itself at the moment, but a very good one not too far away in Stoke-on-Trent. It is worth travelling that bit further afield in view of the added service and peace of mind! Don't have any preconceptions as to age or gender - if you can arrange to meet the piggies themselves, you will find the ones that are right for you. Often, a wonderful personality doesn't come over in a picture. No rescue worth its salt will ever rehome a guinea pig into a single situation; they are group animals and not wired to be on their own!

Please ask the rescue what they require in terms of housing before you go and buy stuff; we have a good housing section with lots of ideas!

I am in Manchester and got my 2 from The Potteries - It's not actually that far away and I now have 2 lovely piggies from there so recommended from me

I got my guinea pigs from Tameside Rabbit and Guinea Pig Rescue (in Audenshaw, near M60). I don't know how reputable they are in terms of the standards of the Piggy Bank, but they are definitely just a rescue and not a breeder who also does rescue.

The Piggy Bank UK has no plans to include the rescue named above.

All the rescues in the Piggy Bank have passed an approval process to ensure that each follows good practice in both the standard of care of the animals in their care and in their rehoming, so any on the list can be recommended with confidence.

Another good rescue is RSPCA Salford & Manchester, though I do not believe they have guinea pigs at the moment.

Thanks all!

I will look into the Stoke rescue. :)

I can highly reccomend Helen and the girls at The Potteries. I have a lovely boy from them and he didn't come with half the problems that I ended up with with a baby from Tameside!
