I'm in tears as I have just got back an answer to the letter I wrote to Dizzy's previous (loving and much beloved) owner to tell her of Dizzy/Daisy's passing.

"Thank you for your letter, Wiebke. It must have been a very difficult letter for you to write? (It WAS!)

The strange thing is, I knew something had happened, because the week of the 8th I was thinking about Daisy, she was on my mind over the weekend, so much so I said to my husband that I was going to write to you to find out if all was well with her, but in my heart I knew she had died, so your letter was not a complete surprise, even though the news was heartbreaking.

All I can say, Wiebke, is thank you, Daisy could not have had a better life and from reading your letter you gave her the ultimate gift, the decision to stop her suffering. If there is a guinea pig Heaven, I'm sure Daisy will be looking down at you and squeak the biggest thank you for all you have done for her.

Keep up the wonderful work you do for guinea pigs.

Best wishes, and sincere thanks on behalf of Daisy and myself."

Aww what a lovely letter, funny how she had a feeling. :( So nice of you to let her know. x

Oh what a lovely letter, am crying myself so can imagine what your reaction was! Beautifully written and how strange that she knew something was up.

It is a beautiful letter. I think it is lovely to know that previous owners can be as caring as we are about the piggies. It is easy to forget that there are many people that cannot bear to part with their piggies but circumstances mean they must, for the pigs sake. That Dizzy found you was a blessing for all three of you - Dizzy, you and her former owner.

I have kept in contact with Dizzy's mom, because she REALLY adored Dizzy.

Unfortunately, Dizzy's first companion was a satin with all the health problems that included. I can't blame Dizzy's mommy for not wanting another guinea pig after that! Dizzy, however, was so unhappy on her own that her mommy decided to let Dizzy go to find another loving home instead of keeping her on her own. And considering how Dizzy instantly glued herself to my Minx, she knew EXACTLY what she wanted!

Dizzy absolutely ADORED her mommy and didn't really bond with me for nearly a year. I am not surprised that Dizzy pulled on her beloved mommy for comfort as well as on me when she was so ill. The last night, she needed constant body contact and was upset if I even had to move away shortly to go to the toilet or wash out the rag I was using to bring down her fever.

Aww what a lovely letter from a very obvious caring owner. I can't believe she knew that there was something wrong :( It is lovely to know that little Dizzy has a special place in 2 very special peoples hearts. She will live on in both of you xxxxx

What a lovely letter to receive, although I can see why it reduced you to tears. It is often hard to part with a beloved piggie, and I just hope the new owners of my babies will be as kind as you were, and let me know if something happens.

Dizzy's "other mum" must have had a very strong bond with her, to have felt her passing, but she knew how well loved and cared for she was with you.

Many hugs to you, because I'm sure this has been a difficult letter to read.

That is a most heart felt letter.........woah it's beautiful and it shows just how much trust she had in you sweetie x)x)x)
and yes do did Dizzy as well bless her xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

let me go wipe away the tears again.... RIP Dizzy babe xxxxxxxxxxx

What a beautiful letter. It is easy to forget that so many owners have genuine reasons for giving up their beloved pets and that its not always because they get bored. Dizzy obviously meant a lot to her and you can tell how much having you adopt Dizzy meant to her. Isnt it amazing how much a letter can mean to you?

Wow...she was really connected to Dizzy to feel something had happened. I truly feel everything happens for a reason and turns out how it should in the end.

That was lovely but must have been sad for you :( It was lovely of you to let her know about Dizzy's passing and of her to write back to you....

When I adopted Daisy from The Rabbit&Guinea Pig Welfare in Rugby, she came with a loving letter from her mommy, you could read the pain of her decision in every line!
It was also soon obvious how much Dizzy adored her mommy (which for me was the decider - animals don't lie!), so I decided to break the rules and keep her mommy loosely updated with pictures twice a year, apart from sending a selection of pics for the annual rescue calendar. It meant so much to her that she made an album with all the pics...

Writing the letter that told her Dizzy had died, was hard.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss :(

It must have been so difficult for to write a letter to the former owner to let her know what had happened and it shows how much courage you have to do so.

She was obviously a VERY loved guinea pig and I firmly believe she had the best possible life.

RIP Dizzy/Daisy x

Oh that is such a beautiful letter, she sounds like she knew how much you loved Dizzy,we all know thatx>>
its strange how she knew something had happened but it goes to show She was close to Dizzy before you got her,I would have cried at a letter like that too, yet again theres proof that you were the very best person for herx>>x>>
