Just got a lovely surprise when I went to feed the piggies, new baby hippo skinny pig Tallulah wasnt hiding in her fleecy tunnel- she was out in the open wheeking along with everyone else, and she didnt even run off when I reached over to get the bag of pellets, or when I opened her cage and put my hand in to give her dinner!
She was shaking a bit like she was scared but being very brave on purpose to be like everypig else.
Funny little bat-hippo :)

Aw, she’s really settling in, so lovely. Have you decided when the big intros are going to take place?
Not sure... we've only had her a week so she should stay in quarantine, but she clearly wants to join the others and try be in the big pig gang... and the vet couldnt find any problems, she seems to have been well cared for and come from a good owner with healthy piggies... I think I'll see how she feels and I feel tomorrow when its cage clean day, then check her over again and decide!

Aw, a video would be lovely, so cute that she wants to be in “big pig gang” I wonder what they will think, “who is this piggie that’s lost all its clothes” :hmm:
She definitely forgot her furry pyjamas :) I hope they will all be friends!
Its tricky to judge when to introduce, I dont know if waiting the whole extra week would make her more confident and excited, or if she'd start getting depressed... she's so little! I care more about the bonding dynamics than the quarantine really, seeing as there are no health alarm signs and she got the ok from the vet, and her mum and aunty and sister and brothers all seemed fine...
See how I feel tomorrow :)

Think we might be introducing tomorrow... because the piggies say so! I went to take their food bowls out after dinner and they were still wheeking like crazy. I gave them some fancy hay... no go, it got ignored, which never happens.
I asked Jezzy floof who almost speaks hooman...Chins rubs? Well maybe... mmm... chin rubs... trance out for a minute... but then shaking her head, no silly hooman, that's not what we said! Wheek wheek wheek... we want you hoomans to do a thing for us but its not hay or chin rubs... no not salad.... Tallulah starts wheeking and stamping her feet and rattling her water bottle... the herd say "wheeeek wheeeek wheeeek" all standing up at the cage bars...
So I think I'm being told to get these silly cage bars out of the way and let everyone meet the bald baby hippo who speaks guinea pig!

Don't think you have much choice there @PigglePuggle it sounds like you have been well and truly told what is going to happen tomorrow! Good luck with it all. I look forward to reading all about it.

I'm still not sure, but I think I know my main herd of piggies well enough and need to go with what they want. If they are ready to meet Tallulah and she's ready to meet them it's the best time, introducing a 7th is always going to be a bit dodgy, so many personalities! I guess any potential URIs or ringworm spores will have made it across the room by now anyway, and I have a healthy vet fund and a good vet... several good vets in fact, at least 3 at the practice are fairly cavy savvy and love seeing piggies!

Today I'm even less sure, all the piggies are being weird!
Tallulah hasnt come out for breakfast...
Puggle is either making a constant complaining noise or an "I'm going to bloat" noise...
Piggle has hooted, chirped and teeth chattered in the past hour...
Theo jumped up onto the roof of a cardboard box house which couldnt take his weight and fell inside and landed on sleeping Clover...

Oh dear! Wait and see how Puggle is first before introducing Tallulah and is Piggle coming into season? If so probably best to wait til that's over too. Waiting another w(h)eek maybe a good idea after all. Hope Puggle doesn't have another bloaty episode coming on.
