*Nibbles&Nugget*
Adult Guinea Pig
For those that don't follow my guinea pigs blog you probably haven't heard, but nearly two weeks ago, my precious boy Nibbles passed away at the grand age of seven. I was so heartbroken that for the first few days I completely missed the signs that Nutty was grieving terribly. And then he stopped eating. He was rushed to the vet but they tested for everything you can think of and sent us on to our cavy savvy vet a bit of a distance away. She checked everything, including his teeth with a strange contraption I'd never seen before and there was nothing wrong with him. We concluded that he was grieving deeply. He cuddled up to a pet safe cuddly toy we put in with him and so began my search for a friend for him.
I started by checking local rescues but there was nothing suitable without travelling quite a distance and I was about to see if I could convince my Dad to drive me two hours to get to the one that did have piggies when I heard something from the lady I often babysit for. Her hairdresser had bought two little guinea pigs which were 'supposedly' boys, from a pet shop which will remain nameless. And the story we have heard time and time again, she found herself with six little piggies. The babies were two boys and two girls. She paired up one boy with the dad and the girls were going to stay with Mum but that left one that the others hadn't got along with. So there I come in. The little one is eight weeks old and has been staying in a quarantine cage for a little while but today I am going to introduce and hopefully bond him and Nutty.
Fingers crossed everything goes ok. My little brother has been trying to think up a name for new piggy but we are pretty stuck so I thought I'd turn to you guys for some help!
This is the one picture I took of him, just as I was about to move him from the carrier into the quarantine cage (I've pretty much left him alone other than that as he is pretty shy, bless him!)
So any idea on names? My brother is set on it starting with 'N' and going well with Nutty. So far we have suggestions of
Nacho
Nelson
Napoleon
Neville
Neddy
Our other boys are Nutty of course and then Buddy and Basil if that helps.
Hope everyone's having a nice weekend!
